Dustin Poirier impressed in the opening bout of the TUF 16 Finale with a first round submission of Brookins.

Both TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins and his opponent Dustin Poirier enter their Featherweight bout coming off a loss. Brookins gave up a guillotine submission to Charles Oiveira at the TUF 15 finale and Poirier lost his last fight to top 145er Chan Sung Jung.

Brookins got to work early landing hard on Poirier. Both fighters were swinging wildly before Poirier clinched up. Once separated, Brookins landed another solid punch. Halfway through the first round, Poirier finally started to find his rhythm and landed his own shots on Brookins. Brookins rocked by a Diamond right hand. He dove for a double-leg and Poirier wrapped up the D'arce choke.
