A massive middleweight clash between Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort is not only headlining the next Brazilian UFC event, but it will air live on free TV. Yesterday Dana White confirmed the channel this card would be on. (Via MMA Fighting)
The show will be on FX, according to UFC president Dana White.
It's definitely the most sensible decision as wasting guys like Bisping and Belfort on FUEL TV would be atrocious and stupid. This card will be officially marked as UFC on FX 7 as part of the six event package for the network.
What's more important is that with the Saturday, January 19th date for this show, it's another sign that the UFC and FX efforts to program on Friday nights is coming to an end. They've already announced that The Ultimate Fighter is moving to Tuesdays, and this event would mark their first Saturday broadcast of a Fight Night.
Much has been made about the poor ratings for both Fight Night and TUF this year and it looks like the solution is to dump Friday for better timeslots. It's also good strategy by the UFC, as January 19th does not clash with the NFL playoffs -- the Conference Championships would air on Sunday -- so there really shouldn't be any major competition from other sports.
