Two major sportsbooks have dropped their opening lines for the UFC on Fox 6 card, and I have to say I'm surprised at a couple of them. The card, which takes place on January 26th in Chicago, is pretty stacked up top, and three of the fights are pretty close. But one of the close ones and both wide-ish ones are the ones I'd like to focus on. First off, here are the lines as of right now (via BestFightOdds):
The best line here is undoubtedly Quinton Jackson at +200. While a lot of people will say he's over the hill and just coming in to collect a paycheck, I don't believe that at all. And I believe his counterstriking is going to knock Glover Teixeira out. At +200, Rampage is a steal and you should jump all over that immediately.
The main event is a bit strange to me too. Sure, Demetrious Johnson has overachieved and won a bunch of fights that he was an underdog in at 135 and 125. But John Dodson's win over Formiga really opened my eyes to how good he is, and +190 is a good price for the challenger in my eyes.
Finally, I'm all about Ricardo Lamas at +125. I'm very surprised he's the underdog here to be honest. Erik Koch is undoubtedly good, but by that point Koch will have been out of the cage for 16 months, and Lamas is just more well-rounded.
