Alistair Overeem, Carlos Condit and Wilmer Valderrama. Just because... - Jeff Bottari
Alistair Overeem thinks that Cain Velasquez will be the champion when the dust settles after UFC 155. Velasquez will be challenging for Junior dos Santos' heavyweight crown.
With Alistair Overeem returning from his suspension at UFC 156 (pending clearance by the Nevada State Athletic Commission) against Antonio Silva, it's only natural that he has his sights set on what will happen at UFC 155 between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez. The winner of dos Santos vs. Velasquez will likely defend his heavyweight title against Overeem should he get by Bigfoot in early 2013.
For whatever it's worth, Overeem says that he thinks Velasquez will get the win and ruin the long simmering grudge match between Alistair and JDS (via Las Vegas Sun):
"I want dos Santos to win so I can beat him, but I think Cain is going to take care of him for me, unfortunately," Overeem said. "Junior is going to get taken down. He’s going to get ground-and-pounded."
Overeem sure has a way of making friends in his heavyweight division.
"(Junior’s) been doing the zig-zag," Overeem said. "He wants to fight me then he doesn’t, so then he fights Cain. I think he’s going to have his hands full with Cain. He’s going to lose."
From a fan perspective there's no real bad outcome at UFC 155 (unless, of course, you're a fan of only one of the fighters involved). Overeem against dos Santos or Velasquez is a fantastic fight on paper.
Of course, Overeem needs to not look past Bigfoot Silva.
Oh, and he probably shouldn't overlook any potential injections his doctors want to give him. Wouldn't want those problems to pop up again.
