UFC On Fox 5 fighter Jeremy Stephens jury trial scheduled for January 9, 2013

Despite having a fight coming up in 9 days, Jeremy Stephens should have more pressing matters on his mind. Only 5 days following the match against Yves Edwards, Stephens has a pretrial hearing in relations to his October arrest.

UFC Lightweight Jeremy Stephens is facing serious criminal charges in his homestate of Iowa. Stephens was arrested in Minneapolis, MN just hours before he was scheduled to fight Yves Edwards at UFC On FX 5. He had an outstanding an outstanding warrant stemming from an incident in the fall of 2011. He was transferred to Iowa authorities and held for almost 2 weeks before being released on a $20,000 bond.

Stephens will be facing 3 criminal charges - willful injury causing serious injury (Class C felony), burglary in the first degree (Class B felony), and assault causing bodily injury (serious misdemeanor).

Stephens is scheduled for a pretrial conference is scheduled for December 13 and a jury trial set for January 9, 2013. Requests have already been submitted for local and national coverage if the case goes to a jury trial.

Jeremy Stephens is currently scheduled to face Yves Edwards at UFC On Fox 5. The fight will take place on December 8 only 5 days before his pretrial conference.
