Eric Bolte-US PRESSWIRE
In a bit of a surprise, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has opened as a semi-small favorite over UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. Their matchup is nowhere near official yet, but linemakers have nothing holding them back from putting out things that people will potentially bet on, so Bodog (Bovada) jumped the gun a bit. Here's a look at how they have it (via BestFightOdds):
Obviously we don't know what weight the possible fight will be contested at yet, and that would make a huge difference in the line. But right now, that's a ridiculously good line on Anderson. I figure at a catchweight, Silva is easily a 3-1 favorite and if you can get him in the area of 2-1, you're laughing all the way to the bank. Even if Anderson is forced to come down to 170, I like his chances in the fight enough to bet on him at the current line.
The good thing about this is simple - if the fight never happens, you'll just have your bet refunded. So if you're confident that Silva will win (like me), and you have a Bovada/Bodog account, it's worth throwing some cash on right now if you have it.
