UFC welterweight John Maguire dropped his 2nd fight in a row after Matt Riddle took a unanimous decision at UFC 154, and now the Brit wants to change weight classes, but it's not the move you think it is.
John Maguire took a short-notice fight against Matt Riddle at UFC 154 and came up short, evening his UFC record at 2-2 following a 2-0 start. He had a significant height and reach disadvantage in both matchups against John Hathaway and Riddle. At only 5'9" and a 70" reach he's already an undersized welterweight, so logically he's making the move to middleweight ... wait, what?
Sitting at the airport waiting to catch my flight home & was thinking time to change my fighting weight...........

Getting on the plane and yes I'm going back to middleweight! :)

Believe it or not, Maguire has fought at MW before, compiling a 10-2 record but dropping to welterweight following this TKO win by Tom Watson.
I have no idea how this is going to end well for Maguire. It seemed for sure that if he was going to have any success in the UFC it'd be at the lower-end of lightweight, but I guess he's going back to familiar territory.
