In the wake of his failed drug test at UFC 153, Stephan Bonnar's relationship with Dana White is on the rocks.
In the weeks following UFC 153 it came out that headliner Stephan Bonnar had once again tested positive for steroids. This was the second time in his UFC career that Bonnar had failed a post-fight drug test for performance enhancers. Acting as the commission for the Brazil event, the UFC sentenced Bonnar to a 12 month suspension. On top of that, it looks like the former "company man" is no longer a favorite of UFC president Dana White.
"I haven't even answered his phone call," White said. "I don't hate him, but I just don't want to talk to him right now."
"I think the thing that bums me out the most about the Bonnar thing is he didn't tell me," White said. "I offered you this fight. He wasn't planning on fighting. He said he was practicing to maybe do some pro wrestling. I've known Stephan for a long time, we have a great relationship – tell me. That's the thing that disappoints me the most."
Since joining the promotion in 2005, Bonnar has performed as much more than just a fighter for the UFC. He's done commentary and analysis for the WEC on Versus. He's done pre- and post-fight commentary for the UFC On Fuel since the Fox agreement. If Bonnar can't repair his relationship with Dana it could throw a big wrench into his plans following his retirement.
