UFC 154 results: John Makdessi takes decision over Sam Stout

After a loss to Anthony Njokuani, it was believed that Sam Stout was a bad matchup for John Makdessi. No one told Makdessi about that though. He picked Stout apart, landing tons of effective jabs and counter to take a unanimous decision in their UFC 154 lightweight bout. The scores were 29-28, 30-27, and 30-27.

Stout came out pretty aggressive, throwing big strikes. Makdessi landed some nice counters and jabs. Stout was mixing it up well, working both the body and head. Stout looked for a takedown but couldn't get it. Makdessi's jab was on point throughout the round, confusing Stout a bit.

Stout went back to the body early in the second but Makdessi's counters were finding their target. Stout was trying to land a big right but was continually missing. Stout went for a takedown again but got rebuffed. Makdessi's head movement was pretty good and he was avoiding a lot of Stout's strikes. Another takedown attempt from Stout failed at the end of the round.

Makdessi landed a nice head kick early in the third. Stout was trying to pressure Makdessi but he was eating a lot of counters.Stout was hitting air as Makdessi evaded his shots, and returned fire with kicks and stiff jabs. Stout's face was busted up. He looked for a takedown but was stopped once again. Stout tried to pressure late but couldn't get anything going.

Makdessi broke a two-fight losing streak with the W.
