Canadian light-heavyweight Nick Penner fights in Australia yet again, as he faces newcomer Eddie Mendez on the preliminary card of UFC on FX 6.

A new fight has been booked for UFC on FX 6 in Brisbane, Australia. The original matchup between Ednaldo Oliveira and Krzysztof Soszynski has been replaced with newcomer Eddie Mendez taking on Canadian LHW Nick Penner. MMA Junkie has the story:

A light-heavyweight bout between Eddie Mendez (7-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Nick Penner (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is the latest addition to next month's UFC on FX 6 event in Australia.

Mendez replaces injured Ednaldo Oliveira (13-1-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), and Penner evidently replaces Krzysztof Soszynski (26-12-1 MMA, 6-3 UFC), though no reason was given for his withdrawal.

UFC officials announced the new bout overnight.

Penner's only other UFC fight was also in Australia on the 2nd FX show, but he was dominated and finished by Anthony Perosh. He tried to fight Tom DeBlass a few months later but pulled out to injury.

Mendez is a middleweight moving up to LHW. He's won his last 7 bouts including a one-off in Strikeforce against Fernando Gonzalez. His last fight was a win over Fabio Nascimento in May.

UFC on FX 6 airs on December 14th (15th in Australia), and the preliminary card will be broadcast on FUEL TV.
