Despite Dana White confirming that The Ultimate Fighter would be moving to Wednesdays, FX officials have said that a move to Wednesday is "highly unlikely."

Yesterday we saw fighter manager Malki Kawa say that The Ultimate Fighter would be moving to Wednesdays for their next season. FX had previously announced that the UFC's reality would be moving away from Friday, a night where ratings have not held up due to a number of reasons. MMA Fighting then confirmed the Wednesday night move with UFC president Dana White.

But now, MMA Fighting has been told by an FX executive that Wednesday is unlikely to be the night:

"FX has not announced the official date or night that the next installment of TUF will air, however, it is highly unlikely it will air Wednesday nights," wrote Dominic Pagone, the Vice President of Media Relations of FX in a message to MMAFighting.com. "The official announcement will be coming in the next two or three weeks."

Before making the move to FX earlier this year, Ultimate Fighter had built up a steady audience that usually hovered between 1.2 million and 1.6 million viewers in a Wednesday night time 10 p.m. time slot on Spike TV. This current season, airing on Friday nights at 10 p.m. on the significantly higher rated FX, the show has ranged between 624,000 and 1.06 million viewers.

This could simply be misdirection from FX as they want to make the announcement when they want to make it, rather than having it made for them. They did spend a lot of time talking about "going after" Spike TV for their "viewer confusion" tactics. Spike will be broadcasting a Bellator reality show as well as Bellator live shows, so FX may be trying to buy a bit more time before an official announcement so they can plan around Spike's plans.

Or, maybe they just don't intend on putting the show on Wednesdays and Malki and Dana spoke about a situation still in flow before a decision had been made.

At this point we pretty much just have to sit back and wait for FX to make the official announcement.
