Nam Phan in for Eddie Yagin, fights Dennis Siver at UFC on FOX 5

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

The day after it was found out that Eddie Yagin was hospitalized following a head injury suffered in training, TUF alum Nam Phan has stepped in for Yagin to fight German kickboxer Dennis Siver at UFC on FOX 5 in Seattle.

Yesterday we told you about the scary head injury (resulting in hospitalization) suffered by featherweight Eddie Yagin while preparing for his fight against Dennis Siver. That obviously left Siver without an opponent at UFC on FOX 5 with just a little over three weeks remaining, but veteran Nam Phan has stepped in on short notice to take on the German kickboxer. UFC officials confirmed this earlier today.

Following his August win over Cole Miller, veteran featherweight Nam Phan will return to the Octagon in Seattle on December 8 when he replaces the injured Eddie Yagin against Germany's Dennis Siver.

Phan was a semifinalist on The Ultimate Fighter 12, and after his elimination from the LW edition of the show he dropped to featherweight. He lost his first two UFC fights against Leonard Garcia -- by now you should know that Phan was blatantly robbed of a win -- and Mike Brown. Phan won his rematch against Garcia, and this time the judges actually scored it correctly, but Phan was destroyed by Jimy Hettes to end 2011. He rebounded nicely in August with an entertaining win over Cole Miller. All of his UFC fights have gone the distance.

This fight will be broadcast live on FUEL TV before the FOX broadcast kicks off at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.
