UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has been awarded a coveted Nike sponsorship.
UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is now officially sponsored by Nike according to Brazil's SporTV. MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani first reported that dos Santos was in negotiations with Nike last week on Fuel TV's UFC Tonight.
Dos Santos joins Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Middleweight champion Anderson Silva as fellow Nike sponsored fighters. The 28-year-old dos Santos is 9-0 in the UFC and 15-1 as a pro. He's been fighting for the UFC since 2008.
Dos Santos will defend his title against former champion Cain Velasquez at UFC 155 on December 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be dos Santos' second title defense since taking the belt from Velasquez at the first UFC on Fox TV in November, 2011.
Dos Santos defeated former champ Frank Mir at UFC 146 in May.
