MMA legend Dan Henderson has been fairly critical about the UFC's decision to award Chael Sonnen the next light-heavyweight title shot against Jon Jones. Henderson was the original opponent for Jones at UFC 151 until he injured his knee and was forced to pull out of the fight. While he's obviously displeased with the UFC, apparently that hasn't negatively affected his friendship with Chael. Today on TSN's Off the Record with Michael Landsberg, Chael announced two major contributions Dan will have over the next few months:
"Henderson and I are obviously up to something, we’re in cahoots. Henderson will be one of the coaches on this show with me and he will be cornering me on April 27th when I take what is rightfully mine, which is the light heavyweight championship."
I wonder if the TV producers will make any attempt on TUF to create a storyline around how the man originally scheduled to fight Jon Jones ends up as an assistant coach to the new opponent of Chael Sonnen.
Hendo may not yet be fighting for the title, but it looks like if everything stays in place -- I probably just jinxed it, so sorry in advance -- he will be opposite of Bones from TUF to April 27th when he's cornering Sonnen against Jones.
