Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
The final UFC event of October sees a loaded lineup for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, headlined by a special 205 lbs fight between Anderson Silva and Stephan Bonnar. Bloody Elbow takes a look at the rest of the card.
After a six-week span of no UFC events, we were hit with 3 in 3 weeks and we'll get one more before another one-month break. UFC 153 was injury-riddled, filled with makeshift matchups, but in the end this is still an excellent card. The main event is between current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Stephan Bonnar in a three-round LHW bout. It's a severely lopsided fight on paper and kudos to the UFC for actually marketing it as such.
This was supposed to be Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch as the main event, then it became Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar in a "F*** yeah" moment for the ages, then Aldo pulled out following a motorcycle accident. There have been so many fights either changed or scrapped and we still don't know who Gabriel Gonzaga is fighting with Geronimo dos Santos out, but here we are with a very fun PPV on paper and hopefully it's another memorable event in Brazil.
