I frequent Deadspin on occasion and I was pleasantly surprised to find former BE writer Matthew Roth making a contribution in the comments section. The Deadspin article was about Bleacher Report's (whom Matthew writes for) editorial practices and how they have been accused of 'engineering' misleading headlines for profit. Roth, who seems to have created an account on Deadspin for the sole reason of responding to that one article, defended Bleacher and had some interesting things to say about BE and SBNation. I just found the article (which is MMA related and touches upon some criticisms of BR that I have in the past made myself) and Roth's comment interesting and worth sharing with everyone.

And this is the comment Roth left:
I write for Bleacher Report's MMA team and I used to write for SBNation/Vox Media/Whatever the fuck they call themselves these days on Bloody Elbow. While you're correct in how we actually cover MMA events, aren't you tossing stones when you have your own in-house issues? Have you ever read Deadspin or Gawker or Jezebel?
I'm happier with BR than I was with SBN. I'm making more money with BR than I was with SBN. And I'm not forced to write anything I don't want to write. I don't have to write fluff pieces or slideshows if I don't want to.
They also have a copy-editing team (SBN didn't have that) and a programming/syndication department. I have no problem with speaking on record if you want to give a balanced view instead of just reaching out to disgruntled former employees.
But why would you wanna do that? That would ruin your narrative.
