What was Dana doing last night?

Stephens/Mayweather situations are not comparable

Multiple UFC fans, and even UFC president Dana White, have invoked Floyd Mayweather's name in defense of the promotion trying to have Jeremy Stephens released from jail the same day as his arrest for a fight. While Mayweather had a sentence delayed so he could fight Miguel Cotto, the situations aren't remotely comparable.

White blames cops for Stephens fight cancellation

Dana White explains how the Jeremy Stephens arrest situation went down and why he refused to simply cancel the fight, placing blame at the feet of the cops.

Stephens will fight according to White

It's been a long day of will they/won't they regarding the Jeremy Stephens vs. Yves Edwards bout at UFC on FX 5: Browne vs. Bigfoot.

Stephens was arrested this morning on an outstanding felony warrant and the bout appeared headed for cancellation. Dana White insisted that the fight WOULD in fact go on despite the arrest and Stephens still being in jail hours before the fight was to take place.

After word circulated from multiple sources that the fight was cancelled, Dana is now tweeting out that the fight will still take place.

The Facebook prelims were cancelled and there isn't exactly time on the standard broadcast for the fight, so it would seem likely that the bout will be after the main event if it does indeed take place.

This is an absolute mess at this point and really it makes no sense to move ahead with the bout.
