The Ultimate Fight Collection 2012 Contest: The Most Outstanding Showman

I got you, you immediately upon seeing the title of my fan post thought another Chael Sonnen post. Chael is a great showman I am not saying he isn’t, but for me to brand an MMA fighter a great Showman or woman, they must put on great fights as well as have some personality. They must be willing to do all they can to promote the fight create a real reason for me to want to watch them fight, then step into the ring, cage, or octagon of death and put it all out there and not worry about wins losses money or injury.

For me that person is Rowdy Ronda Rousey. This chick is all I want in a fighter, she can talk up the contest, she interviews like a champ plus she is an amazing fighter finishing all of her opponents via armbar before the 1st Round bell, with the added bonus that she is not too bad on the eyes. In the past 12 months she has not only won the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight belt in absolute incredible fashion, she has beaten former champion Sarah Kaufman in under a minute. She has also had the where with all to keep calling out former Strikeforce Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg keeping both their names on the tips of MMA media’s tongue.

The thing that impresses me most about the Rowdy one is not her penchant for ending fights early or her stunning good looks, it’s the fact that this former Olympic Judo Bronze medalist has won over a very harsh critic of WMMA (Women’s Mixed Martial Arts) in UFC President Dana White. Mr. White has said in the past that WMMA has no place in the UFC, due to lack for competition and star power. He has since went on record stating that WMMA will be in the UFC in the near future all due to the star power of Ms. Rousey.

The fact of the matter remains that Rounda Rousey is the face of WMMA and she has done this by being one hell of a Showman err, woman and getting the job done whether it be punching faces or selling a fight she has gotten WMMA on the radar of the most important person in MMA.

And as the great Frank Shamrock says she can throw a hell of a Superwomen punch.

Thanks for reading flame away!
