UFC 154 is just about complete, as another bout has been added to the preliminary card of the November show in Montreal. Two featherweights in good form as of late will square off as Darren Elkins fights TUF 14 alum Steven Siler. Per MMA Weekly:
A pair of featherweight contenders will square off at UFC 154 in Montreal when Steven Siler meets Darren Elkins.
Sources at Siler’s management team, AMR Group, confirmed the fight to MMAWeekly.com on Monday.
Elkins (14-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) entered the UFC as a lightweight, where he defeated Duane Ludwig following an ugly injury to Ludwig's ankle. Charles Oliveira immediately submitted him in August, prompting the move to featherweight, where he is undefeated. The win over Michihiro Omigawa could be classified as "controversial", but he later defeated Tiequan Zhang and rallied to defeat Diego Brandao earlier this May.
Siler (21-9 MMA, 3-0 UFC) competed on season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter, where he was eliminated by Diego Brandao's flying knee. He fought on the season finale, defeating Josh Clopton by unanimous decision. Siler pulled off a minor upset against Cole Miller before submitting Joey Gambino this past June. Neither guy has ever lost a fight by decision, in fact Siler was knocked out by Chad Mendes in 2009 with a right hand to the temple followed up by a crushing left hook to the jaw.
