Most of us likely know Dan Henderson's situation by now - instead of facing off with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at UFC 151, an injury forced him out of the fight and completely out of the title picture. Instead he'll likely face off with Lyoto Machida at some future date, and a title shot was handed to Hendo's friend, middleweight Chael Sonnen. Henderson spoke out yesterday regarding Chael, saying that maybe he should just go to sh*t talking school instead of training for fights. Today, he clarified his position on the Team Quest fighter:
And just to make it clear, I will always hv love for Chael and don't blame him for saying yes to a big opportunity. But giving him that fight rt now degrades the sport of Mma.
Tough to argue with that. Dana White said yesterday that it's not like they're clogging up the light heavyweight division by doing this fight. Well, that's exactly what they're doing. And guys like Henderson aren't getting any younger. It's a bad deal for everyone not named Jones or Sonnen.
