Eddie Alvarez vs. Patricky "Pitbull" Freire

R1: Quick right misses from Alvarez, who follows with an inside low kick. Pitbull almost tags him with a rugged left hook in the next exchange. Chaos explodes: Alvarez lays Pitbull out flat with a left hook but Pitbull comes back to life with even more vigor and comes back up swinging hard, chasing Alvarez and dazing him with a vicious flurry. The pair clinch up to take a breath before restarting in the center.

They collide with a mutual exchange, both landing moderately on home-run swings. Lunging lead right from Alvarez. He tries it again and Pitbull grazes with his mean left hook. Right straight, left high kick combo from Pitbull. Alvarez is cut over his left eye. Double lead rights from Alvarez. As the clock winds down in the round, Alvarez uncorks a leviathan right high kick that rolls Pitbull's eyes back on impact. Alvarez greets him with more punches before Pitbull even hits the mat and the ref jumps in to wave it off.

  • Eddie Alvarez defeats Patricky "Pitbull" Freire by 1st-round KO (head kick)

Nazareno Malegarie vs. Rad Martinez

R1: Malegarie showing improved striking early but gets his nose bloodied up by the quick southpaw Martinez. Martinez shoots and Malegarie turns it into a guillotine attempt when Martinez sprawls, but nothing's ado. Nice 3-piece combo from Malegarie is answered with a step-in knee and hook from Martinez. Again Malegarie unwinds both hands with bad intentions and Martinez fires back with a combo of his own.

Malegarie gets wobbled by a combo on the fence but seems to recover quickly though his face is a mess. Martinez clips Malegarie with a straight punch that dazes him again and scores a double leg takedown to close out the round. 10-9 Martinez, bordering on 10-8.

R2: Malegarie changes his tune and tries to tie up Martinez early. Martinez circles away and keeps him at bay with more stiff punches. Malegarie shoots and half-lands the takedown but Martinez scoots free and shoots one of his own; Malegaries guillotine attempt causes him to back out.

Another crisp overhand left sails through for Martinez. Malegarie is the busier striker but Martinez is much more effective and powerful. Martinez goes downstairs with a left, then unloads a right-left combo to the breadbasket followed by a retreating left hand. Leaping left hand and body kick from Martinez to finish the 2nd. 10-9 Martinez.

R3: Nice set of successive hooks land for Malegarie. Martinez gets a momentary takedown but Malegarie pulls off a beautiful sweep and they restart standing. Martinez goes for the outside trip in the clinch and then switches to a single. He gets it but again for just an instant. Malegarie pops Martinez in the kisser. Martinez looking a little rough this round and might have gassed himself out.

Martinez now winging sloppy shots with his feet planted while Malegarie's maintained his pace. Malegarie attacks aggressively and Martinez shows signs of life with a few hard lefts in the clinch that back Malegarie up. Martinez shoots and they lock horns on the cage. Martinez clips Malegerie with a left hook when they separate and Malegarie goes down briefly again. As soon as he stands back up, Martinez puts him back down with a double. 10-9 Martinez, giving him a clean sweep on my card. All 3 judges see it the same with 30-27 scores across the board.

  • Rad Martinez defeats Nazareno Malegarie by unanimous decision

Wagnney Fabiano vs. Akop Stepanyan

R1: "Big" Dan Miragliotta overseeing the match. Fabiano shoots early but Stepanyan skates free. Fabiano a bit hesitant to step into the powerful Russian's wheelhouse. Fabiano rushes and gets double underhooks on the cage, then switches to a body lock and hits the takedown. Stepanyan gets slippery on the mat and tries to scramble free but Fabiano is fully adhered and not having it. Fabiano slides into full mount quickly after and immediately rolls into an armbar.

In one of the most amazing displays of gritty determination I've ever witnessed, Fabiano locks up a deep, textbook armbar and tweaks the arm, fully extended, for a good 20 seconds while Stepanyan guts it out. Fabiano torques it back and forth, arches his hips into the lock even more and cranks on it again. Stepanyan finally taps.

  • Wagnney Fabiano defeats Akop Stepanyan by submission (armbar), Round 1

Jeremy Spoon vs. Mike Richman

R1: Big John McCarthy handling the opener. They both come out throwing hard, tight punches. With absolutely no set up or forewarning, from the southpaw stance, Richman wheels out a left high kick that glances off Spoon's temple. Spoon freezes for a millisecond, wavers like a candle in the wind and crumples to the floor face first. McCarthy is timely in waving the fight off.

  • Mike Richman defeats Jeremy Spoon by KO (head kick), Round 1
