Glover Teixeira has only had one fight in the UFC after a long, complicated journey in his MMA career. But you wouldn't know that he's that fresh to the promotion with the way people speak of him. Multiple fighters have turned down fights with the 18-2 light heavyweight as the risk/reward doesn't seem to line up. With sixteen straight wins, he's too good to treat as just another UFC newcomer, but not well known enough to treat as worth the risk of a potential loss to.
"I didn't challenge Jon Jones," he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "But they asked if I'm ready to fight Jon Jones, and I said yeah. If they call me to fight Jon Jones, I'm ready to fight anyone in the UFC. I'll go, and I'm confident I'm going to that title because that's what I have to think.
"But it's no rush in getting the title. I feel kind of bad for saying something like that (about Jones). I have one fight in the UFC, and I cannot challenge for the title. But if they ask me, yeah, I'm ready to go."
It's certainly a fight with potential for the future as, after one or two more wins to familiarize "the casuals," Glover makes an interesting new challenger to Jones' crown.
