To be honest
If 2-3 ‘Holy shit AMAZING comeback’ fights means that we also get 5-10 ‘Good lord why wasn’t that stopped?’ fights….I’ll take the so-called ‘slightly early stoppages’

You’re not the one getting punched in the head.
I'm gonna give you three seconds; exactly three-fucking-seconds to wipe that stupid looking grin off your face or I will gouge out your eyeballs and skull-fuck you!
Most fighters will agree with Mr. Groves.

or Lesnar when he beat Carwin
Upcoming sig bet with OilCan - Diaz/Condit
Note to self - don't bet against Diaz but I just can't help doing it....again

Those things wouldn't have been the end of the world
When you get tagged, you run the risk of the fight being stopped…avoid strikes better or respond to the punches better.
I mean…when you are taking the kind of punishment they were taking you have no right to complain if the fight gets stopped….lucky for them it wasn’t and they both came bac, good for them…but when Frankie’s ability to take a good shot is gone before he is 30….maybe he’ll wish that first fight had been stopped.

He's only taken damage in two fights in his entire career
And let’s face it, that trilogy will go down in history.

So is the ref supposed to stop the fight as soon as the first punch lands? Safety of the fighters is paramount and someone could get hurt. So first punch wins.
Was it a late stoppage, I guess. I saw her jump in when the second to last blow cause him to go limp as he was moving. Just cause your dominating someone doesn’t mean they are done fighting. Yes he was getting punched in the head but was still moving and trying to change positions.
I don’t see this as something to have such a big out cry. And BTW its KING LAWAL and his big mouth yapping, does anyone pay attention any more?
Larkin was trying to fight back
yes he did go out at the end but I don’t think it was a terrible late stoppage at all

If the defending fighter is blocking but the other fighter just keeps punching (even if every single punch is completely blocked) many refs stop the fight at that point.
It’s up to the ref to decide whether or not strikes are landing clean, or being blocked and doing essentially no damage.
I’d rather have Winslow “give a fighter a chance” to fight back than Herb Dean stopping fights because the fighter on the bottom blocked 5 punches in a row.

gonna burst the seams with my re-fried beans!
Yeah -- I don't see the big issue here, either.
But Lawal playing the role of humanitarian? I saw the fight and I’m pretty sure he was the one tagging Larkin on the side of the head repeatedly with everything he could muster from his awkward position, not Winslow. I thought the stoppage was timely, because the fight was called soon after Larkin seemed to give up defending. IMO, Lawal is an absurd and annoying character. My wish for him is to be granted a fight with Jon Jones.
People want to (figuratively) lynch Winslow
And yet, Carwin was allowed to pummel Lesnar mercilessly.
How many times have people (Rogan) praised Big John for not stopping a fight because he “knows” the fighters well enough to know when they can take it?
I think there is a double standard, and I think it might be related to to Winslow’s gender.
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

"The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights."
Muhammad Ali

"I don’t want to lick any butt."
GSP
I would not equate...
…referee Josh Rosenthal’s performance in Lesnar vs. Carwin with Winslow’s in Lawal vs. Larkin. That is gross misjudgment.

Or it could be because she sucks. Plenty of male refs get shit too.

Honestly I thought Herb Dean’s Rockhold-Jardine was worse. Winslow may be a couple punches late, but nothing all that bad. I also thought Amagov-Lawler was a bit early.
Jardine was still moving and trying to get up
Herb Dean gave Jardine his fair shot at winning. Herb probably should have jumped in a punch or so earlier, but I don’t think it was bad.

From the moment Jardine went to his knees
it was clear he had nothing left to offer, and did nothing to (attempt to) prevent being punched further. Herb’s stoppage was worse than Winslow’s IMO, that’s this whole thing is coming off as a witch hunt to me.
Jardine had nothing to offer well before he even began his walk to the octagon

Earlier in the night Winslow had reffed the Trevor Smith/Gian Villante fight, and Smith was pretty upset with that stoppage being to early (he was talking about appealing it but I really don’t see that fight getting overturned.) Smith was working to improve his position but was eating repeated unblocked shots while doing so (I think that stoppage was a little premature, but not the worst stoppage I’ve ever seen.)
There’s probably a good chance that the earlier fight affected Winslow’s thinking when it came time for the King Mo/Larking fight. Again, that’s just a guess but if it is the case it really isn’t the ideal thought pattern for a ref.
Remember when Hendricks "stopped" Sadollah as he was literally standing up?
Rather a late stoppage than an early one
