Luke Rockhold wants to face the UFC's best. So does Gilbert Melendez. Kid Nate asks 'why not have an annual MMA Super Bowl and let the best face the best?' Read it at MMA Nation.

Decent idea, but it won't last.
The premise runs thin after the first year or two because Strikeforce is very obviously the inferior league at the moment. The SF champions really won’t stand much of a chance, barring a fluke discovery of a Jones-like talent again, because they’re coming from such a shallow talent pool. Melendez is really the only one that would be competitive against his UFC counterpart.
Share for share, share alike, you'll get struck each time I strike.
I have a simpler idea: fold SF into the UFC.
Keep Firing, Assholes!
Pugnacity, testosterone, truculence and belligerence.
Exactly.
There is no need to keep it going. Fold all fighters in and lets get these guys fighting. I want to see how good Gilbert is against the best.

there's a huge need
it’s called locking up Showtime/CBS and keeping another promotion from getting that slot.

In Canada you can only watch it on Superchannel, which is a terrible station that costs extra money.
Therefore for me, it would be beneficial all these guys go to the UFC so i don’t have to spend more money from MMA.
I see the need from your point of view. It would be great to keep another promotion off of CBS/Showtime. But in all honesty, they just had Jardine fighting for a title.. Its hard to take Strikeforce seriously at this point. there are plenty of guys that would the step up in competition that the UFC gives.

Best face the best plzzzz
How many top guys do they have now 5 or 6 now that the heavyweights are gone, they need a reality check.
I would plop down $55 for a card in the fall that included:
Winner of GP v JDS
King Mo v Jones
Mousasi v Rampage
Jacare or Rockhold v Chael
Gil v Bendo
Rousey v Cyborg (with a reduced suspension)
There are a few more I could think of and who knows what next year brings.
It's that the world is basically a forced labor camp from which the workers, perfectly innocent, are led forth by lottery, a few each day, to be executed.
I don't think that's just the way I see it. I think that's the way it is. Are there alternative views? Yes. Will any of them stand close scrutiny? No.

You must hate King Mo. He would get eaten.

You may like Diaz, but Brock actually won a title that mattered.

Rub that chin a lil harder bud...
For the guy running around prognosticating about Lesnar tearing apart Overeem and Cerrone running clinics on Diaz – you’re pretty brave trying to tell anyone anything about a fighter getting eaten.
There's no reason for the UFC to put their biggest stars
against a bunch of non-UFC “nobodies” who have not been built up within the UFC first.
It doesn’t matter who Overreem fought in Strikeforce or anywhere else, as long as he hasn’t fought in the UFC no way is he getting a title shot. See Lesnar’s introducing him into the UFC for proof of this.
And I’m not saying these fighters are nobodies, but to a casual ufc only audience I don’t know how well they’re known.
Articles like this are wishful thinking, or just playing to the hardcore fans.
Frankly I can’t understand why anyone here thinks the UFC will take their most valuable commodities and put them up against a down scaled b-grade promotion.
It doesn’t matter what the individual fighters are capable of, this is a business matter.
The UFC sees itself as the only “superbowl”.
