Fertitta Businesses Top Three Donors to Jon Huntsman's 2012 GOP Campaign

While Jacob Volkman might be in hot water over his latest attempt at political humor he is not the only member of the Zuffa family involved in politics.
According to The Center for Responsive Politics Jon Huntsman's top three campaign contributions come from Fertitta owned businesses.
Huntsman's top contribution totaled $29,500 from Fertitta Entertainment while Station Casinos and Ultimate Fighting Championship both donated $29,000 for the number two and three spots respectively.
The Center for Responsive Politics offers this disclaimer regarding the contributions:
The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organizations' PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

It’s always nice to have the US Ambassador to the Peoples Republic of China in your back pocket, especially when you are trying to break into that market.

Former ambassador
Huntsman’s campaign is angling for an appointment anyway, cheaper to buy influence with him

Could be worse
they could have donated to Bachmann.

Huntsman is playing the sane republican in this election season.
Well thought out, reasoned, nuanced, pragmatic positions on most issues.
Of course, he’s basically Romney lite… and if the Republicans don’t elect Romney, they certainly won’t elect Romney lite.

Huntsman would be like Romney Triple Stout. He’s way more conservative ficscally but comes accross as a moderate because of his center leaning social positions. Huntdoggie is the only candidate to support the Ryan plan and he specifically indicates cuts will be coming in Defense (as well as entitlements).
Glad the Frititas are doing this. Now i can feel like I’m supporting for my fav repub candidate w/o actually doing dick.

I think the main thing that differentiates him from Romney
is that his opinions don’t change with the wind. And Huntsman’s actual positions on things don’t matter to me as much as the fact that he is mature, can formulate complex opinions, and most importantly of all, is in fact sane. That puts him leagues above most politicians from either party.

Looks like Huntsman has the coveted BE endorsement all but in the bag at this point. I’ll contact his staff and let them know.

Do you have anything to say Huntsman’s politics in particular, or just a bunch of generalities about the political party he affiliates himself with?
To be honest, I doubt the Fertitta’s give a shit about his politics. They support whoever they think will be friendly towards their businesses and will be receptive to their input. That is why they can support a bastion of the democratic party like Harry Reid and then turn right around and support a Republican like Huntsman. They think both guys have something to offer them, politics be damned.

i’m not sure i see a valid comparison here. Zuffa is making political contributions to a Republican presidential candidate [even though they’ve openly campaigned for Harry Reid, a Democrat], and that’s similar or equal to Volkman simply talking shit about Obama? i don’t see it.

You are right
it’s a shitty lead I wrote in an attempt to make this information, which is really perfunctory, pertinent to local events in MMA
We can still all collectively facepalm at Volkman together

That's actually impressive
considering he basically didn’t campaign there.

One of the better guys running, for sure
And like Steve said, Huntsman is good in dealing with the Chinese.
