Strikeforce Rockhold Vs Jardine Results: Tyron Woodley Victorious In Boring Affair
Tyron Woodley defeated Jordan Mein by Split Decision. The Judges scored the fight 29-28 Jordan Mein, 29-28 Woodley, 30-27 Woodley.
Woodley landed a body kick early. Mein backed Woodley against the fence. Woodley exploded forward looking for a single leg but Mein defended well. Mein landed an uppercut but Woodley dropped and completed a takedown. Immediately as they hit the ground Woodley attempted an arm triangle. Mein quickly postured up but Woodley drove him back down to the mat. Huge elbow from Woodley. Another elbow from Woodley lands but Mein uses it to stand back up. Knee from Woodley from the clinch.
Overhand right landed for Woodley and backed Mein up. Woodley clinched and then hit the takedown working from Jordan Mein's half-guard. Woodley working just enough to keep the fight on the ground. Mein opened up with some elbows that may or may not have been completely legal. The ref allowed the fighters to work despite not really providing an exciting round.
Mein attempted a knee and Woodley used it to complete a takedown. Woodley continued his not-so-relentless attack on Jordan Mein. He made no attempted to pass guard, content to work just enough to keep the fight on the ground. He'll be the Strikeforce welterweight champion and the crowd hates him. Mein works for a keylock from guard and the referee stands the fighters up. Ankle pick from Woodley was unsuccessful as Mein sprawled out. Jordan Mein attempted the slowest takedown as the round came to a conclusion.
Tyron Woodley entered the fight 9-0 and a big win over Paul Daley. He's the number one contender for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title. Jordan Mein is 22-7 in his career and came in on a five fight winning streak. He is 1-1 in the organization.

This is the reason he doesn’t fight, he sits on you, and even then he gasses out, nothing exciting about him, Im sure no one in Strikeforce can “win” against him but I would rather watch paint dry then a 5 round humpfest with him. My only hope is that in 5 round Woodley wont have the energy to fight and just lay down and just stop fighting.
Please don’t give T-Wood anymore fights. Especially a WW title bout.

I don't think that's just the way I see it. I think that's the way it is. Are there alternative views? Yes. Will any of them stand close scrutiny? No.

Yup
Woodley did nothing while on top of Mein in the second round. At least Fitch stays busy.
Bitch.

Seriously, don't do this
Don’t even compare Tyron Woodley to Jon Fitch. Tyron Woodley is not half the fighter Jon Fitch is. I’m not even a Fitch fan, but Fitch is way, way, way better than Woodley, and more entertaining than Woodley as well.

I really wish they would change the rules regarding takedowns. A fighter should get negative points if he takes his opponent down and does nothing, also if the opponent stands up the guy who stands up should get the points.
And most importantly, the rules should be changed regarding knees to the head of an opponent. If a takedown is attempted on you, you should be allowed to knee the head of your opponent if you can successfully sprawl and grab his head in a headlock, regardless if their hands are touching the ground. This rule would punish the wrestlers they way they should be punished for failed takedown attempts. As it is right now, if a wrestler tries to take down his opponent and doesn’t get it, they don’t have any consequences, and they can just keep trying without any worries that if they don’t get it they will get kneed in the head.
I believe this single rule change would completely change the gameplans of the wrestling based mma fighters, and practically eliminate these boring wrestling matches.
Testify!

I had no problem at all with the takedowns, its what he did Woodley after the takedowns, which was nothing, especially in that 2nd and 3rd round, the ref was just horrible.he could of stood that fight up countless times for inactivity. King Mo in the 1st round 2 mins in already postured up and threw more strikes on the ground then Woodley did his whole fight.
I hate people bitching abut Fitch all the time. But in Woodley's case, I'm not hesitating to call him an unabashed lay and prayer
Fitch at least is always working and punching the guy. Supremely conditioned. Grinding him down and always working. Woodley, on the other hand, just lays on the guy in guard and struggles to hold him down while sucking in wheezy breaths and waiting for the round to end. I actually saw him stop in the third and look up at the clock—just running that shit out. Woodley’s skill set has regressed as he fights better guys and is forced to just resort to laying on them. Not to mention that Jordan’s elbows from the bottom did way more damage in that fight than anything that Woodley threw. Woodley makes Fitch look like JDS…
/end rant
How the hell do you promote a fighter like this? I’d prefer to watch cspan than sit thru this again.

I was thinking the exact same thing, I have a feeling that SF could release Woodley this second and Bellator would not even offer him a contract, sure he would get work but I think most smaller ogs on HD.NET that show fights on TV would stay far away from him, someone like him can just kill a whole show and make the audience flick the channel.I would not be shocked what so ever if Woodley’s does not atleast change his style alittle bit that after his first loss he gets a pink slip ? I just don’t see how any org can afford to show his live fights on a main card and promote him.
You can look at all my past comments on BE and all other MMA websites I hardly never ever bust on or say anyhting negative about a fighters style but last night was the exact fight I would show someone if they wanted to know what it means when they call a fighter a blanket or what lay n pray looks like.
