21-1-1????? You sure about that???
So, now apparantly the UFC are counting Rashad's AMATUER and TUF fights on his record. Amatuer - not pro - so they don't belong on a PRO record.
TUF fights are exhibitions, so again, not on the pro record. Do all fighters get this treatment from now on? Or just the ones needing a boost before network TV?
Will they include sparring matches as well? Games on Street Fighter 2?
To me it kind of makes a mockery of keeping fighter records at all if they're just going to make one up 2/3s of the way through a man's career.

In mma the lines between pro and amateur, and exhibition and real have always been blurry. For what it’s worth, NSAC’s site lists TUF season 1’s fights as exhibitions and season 2’s does not have the word exhibition on the link or on the report.
bones, is that you?

His record, as listed by the UFC, has always had a few more fights on it than his record as listed by Sherdog.
So you can quiet down on the conspiracy front.

TUF 2 didn't count as exhibitions
Because all of those fights were three five-minute rounds as opposed to two rounds with a possible sudden victory round like the other seasons. So Rashad immediately gains an extra three wins from the tapings.
So here it is.. again.
The TUF 2 season fights were considered, at least at one point, pro, non-exhibition fights. Whether or not the UFC went back to the NSAC and asked them to respond to inquiries with “these are exhibition fights” after the fact — I don’t know. I have personally contacted the NSAC and was told that they are legit, pro fights.
Rashad started his career with two Dangerzone fights. He was paid for these fights. Even though their web site says something to the effect of — all fights listed here are amateur unless stated — is obviously erroneous, as Dan Severn himself has fights listed on there that don’t specifically say “pro”.
We’ve always counted the TUF2 season fights and now we’re counting the DZ fights, as of last week.

I want someone to explain Guillard's record.
Not to mention Shonie Carter’s.

I don’t know about those guys, but the first time I remember having the “inflated records” discussion was with matt serra. I’m pretty sure that this doesn’t make sense. I don’t know why sherdog doesn’t list this organizations first, second, fourth or fifth events, but I think we can assume they happened. How do you determine the difference between amateur and pro, exhibition and real, or even mma and catch wrestling/freestyle fighting/whatever you want to call it.
It’s getting better now, but there’s no way every fight ever has been recorded.
This may be wrong, but I think a commission needs to exist to declare a bout “amateur”. If a guy is getting paid.. it may or may not be sanctioned by a commission, but it should be considered a “pro” fight. If they aren’t getting paid, and there is commission in place, than it’s just two guys fighting somewhere. An exhibition should be clearly stated as such and you’d think the round/time format would be different.

correct: and there ISN'T a commission in place..
Are we ever going to get a ‘edit’ button?

Just like most other Sports Leagues, UFC exaggerates stats.
GSP’s height and reach apparently changes a lot.
Shane Carwin cuts height some times to make 265.
Sometime they add in Kongo’s kickboxing record and sometime they don’t.
etc etc etc.
This shits not cool but it’s been happening since UFC 1.

"cuts height"
intentional or not, this is hilarious.
Reppin' the 202 for The Voice's in Paul Harris' Head. BECW Season 12.
I don't get the fluctuation in stats.
If guys like Jones, Silva and GSp didn’t have a significant height/reach advantage over their opponents, wouldn’t that actually say more about their level of skill as a fighter? Exaggerating stats doesn’t make much sense, unless it’s in the HW division.
It’s done in every sport, for various reasons. To make people larger than life, to make people seem bigger than they are to give opponents a hard time, to make people seem smaller than they.
On this topic, how tall is Anderson Silva? His fight with Okami he was supposedly 5’11". I’m pretty sure his Cage Rage fights he was 5’11" too, and I remember Goldberg claiming he was 5’11, which was odd since the tale of the tape had just listed him at 6’2. I’d chalk this up to the UFC inflating his stats, but from every account I’ve heard from people who see him in person, the guy is huge. And he looked every bit as big as Forrest Griffin when they fought.

Look at Guillard's record
In fact, his record that was listed if you hit info on the FX card had less fights than when they announced him.
