UFC On Fox 2 Results Recap: Evan Dunham Vs. Nik Lentz

Photo by Esther Lin for MMAFighting.com

In a UFC on Fox 2 preliminary fight in the Lightweight division, Evan Dunham defeated Nik Lentz by TKO due to doctor's stoppage. The fight was stopped after the 2nd round when the ringside doctor's determined that Lentz could not continue. Dunham is now on a 2 fight win streak, and is 13-2 overall. Lentz drops his 2nd in a row and is now 21-5-2, 1 NC.

This was a fun fight to wrap up the preliminary card, taking home the Fight of the Night bonus. Lentz came out with his newer, more aggressive and fan friendly style, and while it made for an entertaining fight, it definitely cost him. Near the midway point of round 2, the two men engaged in a shoot-out, with Dunham coming out ahead. From there, Dunham never looked back, pouring on the assault for the rest of the round. In the end, he damaged Lentz's eye, forcing the doctor's to stop the fight.

What was the high spot of this fight?

The entire second half of round 2 was quality stuff, starting with that stand up exchange all the way through Dunham's dominance.

Where do these guys go from here?

After a pair of loses a year ago, Dunham now has back to back wins and has returned to contender status at Lightweight. There are plenty of options for him, but I think a fight with Thiago Tavares sounds like a great idea.

Lentz has quickly moved from undefeated in the UFC to winless in nearly a year. I don't see him being cut now, but his next fight will be a must win for him, no matter who he faces.

Watch it now, later or never?

Later. It was a fun fight that's worth your time, and a nice showing from Dunham.

Is it just me...

Or has Nik Lentz changed his fighting style..
To be a whole lot less boring, but not effective in winning him any fights?

That appears to be the case. This was a good fight though. I was bummed we didn’t get a third round.
