Next time on FOX they need to...
Main event with a lighter weight. I know they like to put contenders on here so the next card should feature
Renan Barao V Miguel Torres (His UFC 145 bout should be scrapped)
And if they are putting three again then maybe some 85ers like Belcher and Bisping or something i dont really know about the third but i think the Main events should definitely feature some lighter weight guys wouldn't have the people leaving the arena mid fight.

What about Cain Velasquez Vs Frank Mir ? Cain doesnt fight boring and its on Cinco de Mayo. Although Torres and Barao does sound interesting.

I just can't see them promoting somebody coming off a loss
Unless he’s opening up the card. but even then on FOX looks like they only want people coming off wins

That is a good fight just because unlike most heavyweights Mir and Cain will probably put on a great fight.

Those fights are okay (Other than Garcia)
But they should also have divisional relevancy.

Garcia needs to be dropped imo
he looks terrible and makes UFC quality fighters get a bad name

Garcia needs to be out of the UFC
Cerrone is coming off a loss
I think Guillard should fight Sam Stout.

Not ready for Melvin to get back to winning just yet.
I’m enjoying this whole getting submitted thing he’s got going on.
I don't think the weight class is the issue
I think the fighters are what they need to be alert about. Miguel Torres has been in some boring ass fights as of late also.
yup the most exciting moment of his UFC career has happened outside of The Octagon™.

I agree but i don't think he'd be in one with Renan
Barao is a beast and out for blood. Plus it could be a #1 contender bout

I'd love to see the Flyweight title decided on FOX
The UFC on FOX3 card is just over 2 months after the first flyweight fights, so I think it could happen ask long as the winners come out healthy.
If that isn’t possible, then why not put Jose Aldo against the Hioki/Bartimus winner. Aldo can’t sell PPVs, so they might as well try to get him some free exposure, and if he puts on a show it might help him catch on with the casual fan.
I think it's safe to assume
Aldo is going to be fighting in Brazil for the near future.

True
But putting him on a big stage for an American audience can only make him bigger.

Sure
But I don’t think the UFC cares if he tanks in America as long as he can put asses in seats in Brazil. It would be nice if the casual fan cared about him, but I don’t think they’re going to do it at the cost of not having him fight in Brazil.
I wouldn’t be shocked if the UFC got another season of TUF in Brazil Jose Aldo would be on the short list to coach it.

Any good brazillian can put asses in seats in Brazil though
Jose Aldo slaughtering Hioki on live TV would bump his stock up a bit.
I doubt they add him to the Sao Paulo card and thats the next time they are going so he'll need to fight before then
Considering how stacked it already is…
Silva Vs Sonnen
Wandy Vs. Vitor (Brazilian TUF)
Thats more than enough star power for a Brazilian stadium

Btw flyweight title doesn't sound bad at all

Not sure who against
There aren’t that many Brazilians at the top of 145, only Nunes really and he needs a few wins to get into that position.
Barao - Torres makes little to no sense
Both guys already have a fight booked (when was the last time that the UFC cancelled a fight to make another one?) and besides, I strongly doubt they go with someone who doesn’t speak English.
Miller vs Diaz is a great fight and I’m glad they booked it, but I also think they made the right call in not making it the main event. Nate may be the more coherent Diaz brother but he’s still not someone I could imagine doing tons of extra PR work. Miller isn’t really all that charismatic either.

It doesn't really matter in my opinion
If you want a Griffin/Bonnar type ratings spike those guys weren’t big stars at the time either) you make Miller/Diaz five rounds.

Apples and oranges
First of all, Griffin vs Bonnar was a freak fight and the Spike audience is very different from the (potential) Fox audience. The UFC should do what they can to try to make fights that will deliver, of course, but I think it’s important that they also stick to what they can control, ie. choosing fighters who have some sort of story and are capable of telling it. Jim Miller is too humble for his own good; it’s part of the reason why he missed out on a title shot as he just quietly went about his business. Nate is another fighter who isn’t likely to stir up much pre-fight interest (for any of the right reasons, anyway) but who always delivers in the cage.
In other words, Diaz vs Miller is a perfect fight that obviously has major title implications but offers very little narrative that the major media could pick up on. To me the first couple of UFC on Fox shows are as much about selling the sport as they are about building stars. I don’t think a lot of first time viewers will identify with Diaz or Miller but the fight will be awesome, hence it’s a perfect opening fight that they can dive right into without too much build-up on the night.

You could put personalities on television to the cows come home
If the fights suck people are going to tune out.
If you put exciting and violent fights on consistently, people will tune in just to see the excitement and violence.
And lets be real, Miller vs. Diaz is probably going to be nuts.
by discoandherpes on Jan 29, 2012 10:40 PM EST up reply actions
What do you mean
“lets be real”? I’ve stated several times that I think Miller vs Diaz is a perfect fight for a Fox card.
IIRC, most media members had Silva vs Sonnen as the 2010 fight of the year. That fight wasn’t a particularly outstanding fight by most measures – it was one-sided, Sonnen did very little damage considering his dominance – yet the fight combined with the narrative made it something special.
All I am saying is: make fights that are going to be exciting, but book a main event that people can relate to somehow. I’m not even talking about personalities as such and I have no particular desire for trash talking, I just want someone who has a story and is able to tell it. Rashad fit the bill but got matched up against a poor striker, Junior dos Santos fit the bill but was a victim of his own awesomeness and guys like Belfort, Hendo, Penn and plenty more have some sort of story combined with a modicum of eloquence.

Renan doesn't need to speak english the way he fights. Maia doesn't speak that much either
-And like i said i think they are saving FOX fights for CONTENDERS not just fun fights
- Don’t need a story they need a strong good fights that show MMA
-as you see they didn’t do a primetime for this that built up big stories for this just a small little segment right before the fight
- Miller personality is really boring btw i think however i think it will be a good fight plus him being in his home town won’t hurt buys
I’m not resting until I’m officially Anderson Silva status.- Jon "Bones" Jones
A common expression I use, don't read into to much
I think those are all valid points, I just think you need to hook as many of the casual fans you can first.

Diego Sanchez vs Leonard Garcia
No human being alive would call that fight boring. Stupid, maybe, but not boring.
No, you're not drunk. I am this good-looking.
did you not see ufc on fox 3?
They already scheduled Jim Miller vs Nate Diaz for UFC on Fox 3 in New Jersey. So you guys guessed right on that one and the only other fight that would make sense is Mir vs Cain would be absolute fireworks.
