Join hosts "The DA" Neil Wagner, Matthew Roth and Forrest Lynn as they review tonight's UFC on Fox, which is headlined by a light-heavyweight clash between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis and a middleweight eliminator bout between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping. Also on the card is a middleweight bout between Demian Maia and Chris Weidman.

I gotta be honest
This show wasn’t good at all to attract more fans.
Weidman and Maia were sloppy and gassed, Chael looked horrible in the first two rounds and still ended up 30-27 on at least one judges card, and the last fight was the best of the main card but still would not appeal to the casual observer.

I agree. Grapple / clinch fest. No exactly great for getting new fans hooked. Question for the show, was it a mistake by the UFC to book so grapple-heavy fights for their first proper FOX card?

I think the original match ups would have been more exciting.
We would have seen Maia try out his striking with Bisping and get outstruck, maybe even finish, and I think Munoz would have put Chael out with big punches if Bisping was able to control him

Now, I didn’t think the fights were all that bad. I’ve seen a lot worse. The late second/third round of Weidman-Maia was horrid. Bisping-Sonnen was a good bout and back and forth for those who understand the styles of the two. Davis-Evans was a one-sided stifling that Archie Bunker would have been proud of. But casual fans will poop all over this. The people who were introduced to this through this card might not ever come back.

You’re not making any sense. The score in parentheses is the event score. Reccing Machines are in first place in the first table because they scored the most points for this event, but they only have 2206 overall.

Because after 4 events, out of the 9 last round picks that aren’t named Subbevil, two guys are <1 and 3 points above average while SethSmiley is 38 points above average and 6 guys are below average (79, 9, 72, 25, 67, 38 points respectively).
Some of you have said that it’s a shame you got a non-picker because that means you were fucked out of having any chance of doing something. I’m saying that if Subbevil performed as his draft pick suggested, you would at the very best be 8th, more likely 10th.

Phil has no hands, I don't get how he learned the low kick before he learned the jab.
Phil’s athleticism appears to have been overrated leading up to this fight. Rashad, at this point in his career, is two levels above Phil Davis. I saw this result coming since the Lil Nog fight, if Jon Jones was fighting Rashad tonight, he would have kept kept him down off the first takedown and clubbed him silly. In Davis’ defense, he should have never been matched with Rashad in the first place, he was pushed into a contender level fight 4-5 fights too soon.
To be perfectly honest, I think anyone who’s betting on Rashad to beat Jones is betting with their heart, and not with their head.
Phil has too wide and muscular upper-upper body to ever learn how to box fluently.

I don’t buy that, he doesn’t need to be a great boxer, just a competent one. I’ve seen guys of various body types box competently, so his physique is not the issue.
He just didn’t spend enough hours honing his hands, and those horrible looping punches showed that.

Chael looked like he was out of it before he threw his first punch.
I think he had a bad weight cut, he didn’t look nearly as faded going up against Marquardt, Silva, and Stann. There were times where Chael looked confused trying to maintain his stance after throwing a shot.

Also he said he got hit so hard he didn’t know where he was. I thought it looked like Bisping was connecting well at the beginning, and apparently it worked.

It’s hard to believe he got hurt that bad from the shots thrown by Bisping, I know that he’s a better striker than most in the division, but it still baffles me. Oh well, Bisping should have won that fight 2 rounds to 1, biased judging may have screwed the brit.

All this talk about Maia makes it kinda funny that AS was so scared to go to the ground with him back then.
Maia’s BJJ is simply not all that great when adapted to MMA, just like Phil Davis’ wrestling leaves a lot to be desired in MMA.
I think you need to give Weidman one or two more fights against mid-tier. Like him vs. Mayhem Miller and one more fight on that level. Then you start giving him guys like Okami and Bisping.

Nik Lentz’s striking looked like it was underwater compared to Dunham. He was getting lit up on the way in trying to clinch with Dunham, but Goldie and Joe seemed to ignore that.

The Hesdy situation came from a seizure in Belgium that involved some people he knew.
I would never claim to know for sure who is clean and who isn’t, but there is definitely a significant amount of shit that goes on around kickboxers in Europe. The Dutch don’t have shit on Vitali Akhramenko though.

Fool, when you call in, you hear the show. If you’re that butt-hurt about not being picked up, maybe you should try calling in to an FM show and see how fast they are to pick you up. It might help if you wait more than three or four minutes, since we didn’t have anyone working the phones tonight to screen calls.
You comparing someone doing a free podcast on their own time while multitasking to a guy who is getting paid to show up and promote a fight and talk to TWO dudes shows how ignorant you are. I expect him to be nervous. I expect him to have notes. I don’t expect him to be constantly looking all the way down at his notes when he’s in the shot.
