Mario Yamasaki threatens to disqualify Rousimar Palhares after win over David Branch
Interesting video of Mario giving Paul Harris a piece of his mind for tapping David on the back in order to get his attention for a hand shake. Mario then threatens to DQ toquinho, who appears dumbfounded by the occurrence. Not sure what kind of rules Paul Harris broke here, but I find it interesting after what happened with Mario at UFC 142. Make sure to turn on CC for subtitles.

Haha Paul Harris looks like a little boy who's being told off by his dad!
But seriously, Fuck Yamasaki, if those subtitles are accurate! it seems too ridiculous that he would threaten him with a disqualification for that!
So funny, egorr10 nailed it!
He’s like a German Sheppard puppy who doesn’t know his own strength
Mario speaks Portuguese?

INEPT coming for the season 2 BECW title.
He was born in Rio and his dad is half-Japanese so he carries a Japanese surname
Mario is Brazilian by birth
I had no idea. Is he trilingual? Or is it just English and Portuguese?

Do you have a direct translation of what Mario is saying to him there?

the subs were pretty accurate, I’d have translated them a bit different ‘cause Mario used some curse words as well, like ’shit, you can’t do that’, but you can get the idea.

hey, I'll. try my best from memory:
“shit, stop doing that or you’ll get disqualified man, tapping others when the fight is over? no, don’t do that! don’t do that! tap the guy after the fight… you were doing this (yamasaki was mimicking a gesture here), and tap the guy on the back man, you gonna get disqualified, eh? can’t do that stuff man”

This is beyond ridiculous
He barely even taps Branch. He places his hand on his back, if anything. This genuinly seems like Yamasaki just had a problem with Paul Harris and was looking for something to have a go at him for. There’s no other explanation, sheer stupidity.

Yamasaki is a terrible referee
Are we all really surprised?

Yamasaki as a little kid got tapped in the back, but when he turned over there was no one there. Apparently he got flashbacks.

A friend trained BJJ with Mario
And he said Mario is a very strict, no nonsense coach. Kind of like a high school football coach.

My portuguese isn't great, but...
At around the 45s mark it doesn’t sound like he’s saying “desqualificado”, it sounds like he’s saying “classificado”… basically saying Palhares needs to be more careful because of his reputation?
Getting bent out of shape over a fight promoter lying is like getting upset that a hooker won't kiss you. It betrays a deep lack of understanding of the nature of the profession.
Mario actually says “desclassificado”, which in fact means desqualified. "Desqualificado"means something a bit different, although the two words are very similar. Also, in Portuguese, one wouldn’t usually say “classificado” on matters pertaining to reputation (“tachado” is the more usual verb but, confusingly enough, “qualificado” would also fit well).
To be clear,
is Yamasaki threatening to disqualify Palhares, or warning Palhares that he will be disqualified (ie by someone else)?

They need to fire all of the refs except Herb Dean and Josh Rosenthal.
Kim Winslow…yeah.
Mazzagatti…terrible.
Miragliotta – let’s fights go on way too long
Mario Yamasaki – shit like this.

"God loves violence... Why else would there be so much of it? It's in us. It's what we are. We wage war, we burn sacrifices, and pillage and plunder and tear at the flesh of our brothers. And why? Because God gave us violence to wage in his honor... There's no moral order at all. There's just this: can my violence conquer yours?"
