UFC On FX Results: Josh Neer Puts Duane Ludwig To Sleep With Guillotine

Photo

Josh Neer defeated Duane Ludwig by guillotine choke. The technical submission came at 3:04 in the first round.

Jon Anik repeated multiple times in the build up that Josh Neer was an honorary Diaz Brother because of his ability to survive big shots and his slick submissions. That turned out to be a great comparison at Neer held his own against the K-1 veteran, trading punches with Duane Ludwig. Though Ludwig was getting the better of the stand up, he wasn't dominating Neer as most would expect. It was Neer's legendary chin that kept him in the fight and allowed him to put together a pretty technical finish. Sinking in a guillotine choke, he put Duane Ludwig to sleep before Duane could tap out.

Neer improves to 33-10-1 in his career. Duane Ludwig drops to 21-12 in MMA. It was the sixth submission loss of his career.

I like how Neer thanked his boxing coach just moments after he admitted Bang was getting the better of him in the stand up! Maybe he was being sarcastic, like gee thanks ass hole! I’ll never call that guy again!

Or...

His boxing coach did a great job and it was he himself who was making the mistakes. As far as we know, his boxing coach could have prepared him very well and he just didn’t execute. You never know.

I won’t lie I kind of thought the same thing though at first!

I think it's because..

His boxing coach may rreally be the only ‘coach’ he brings on so to speak. I mean he has other training partners, etc but that’s the only ‘coach’ that was in his corner.

Great comeback for Neer

Ludwig started very strong standing but Neer persevered and found a way to win. He took the opportunity he had and finished the fight. Congratulations to “The Dentist”!

Neer must have an incredibly tight guillotine – getting tapped out by a no-arm guillotine is just plain embarrassing in my opinion (I’ve done no-gi BJJ on and off for about 3 years now and have never seen anyone tap to it that wasn’t a beginner).

Well, if you want to be accurate

He didn’t really tap.. he went to sleep. Kind of looked like he was trying to tap though. He seemed to go out rather quickly in my opinion maybe it was very tight like you said.

Grow up..

For being someone who writes, you’d think you’d come with something better then the same old ‘this is why you don’t drink and drive kids’ routine. What was that over 2 years ago? Get over it. People do dumb shit, they learn, they grow, they change. Buuut I guess when you fight at the highest level you’re going to have all sorts of haters and people flappin’. That being said since going up to 170 lbs ‘The Dentist’ has won 7 of 8 and had 2 impressive finishes in a row. That’s what we should be acknowledging.
