Should the UFC abandon Global Expansion+NY in order to pay fighters more?
I think this is one of the factors that people are leaving out. That and what the UFC definitely will not include in any of they're assessments is the fact that Bellator should be scrutinized just as thoroughly since they are now backed by Viacom they can afford to pay the fighters more than Zuffa. Or maybe the UFC should discontinue the undisclosed bonuses that Sean M. has just shed some light on in order to increase pay.
So does anybody think legalization, recent Chinese scouting, and expansion in general?

"they can afford to pay the fighters more"
I fail to see how the employer’s ability to pay the fighters matters. They pay the fighters what they are worth. They pay the fighters what the market demands.
Were it not for the UFC, none of these fighters would have jobs as fighters at all. I don’t see how the UFC creating jobs for these people creates an obligation for the UFC to pay them extra.
No.
The UFC pays well.

Their motto seems to always have been to grow the pot as a whole and fighters pay (through better sponsorships and ppv cuts etc) will grow as a result over time. It’s worked so far, so carry on. Overall, fighters pay has grown more in the UFC than any other mma league ever, so why are peoeple even complaining? Bottom line is they are doing something that’s working better than what everyone else has been doing, so why argue with results.
Mcloviiiiin!!
So why are non of the news outlets mentioning this

mentioning what? Zuffa mentions that they have more costs than the other big leagues whenever they speak on the subject.
Mentioning the fact that this is still a growing sport
And so far the UFC is the only brand growing it. Growing the sport as tenaciously as they have been doing takes money. Along with the losses they take in certain countries. Not every country ends up loving the sport like Brazil or Canada

The UFC is a business.
I do take your point, but the reality is that the UFC is a business and they will always pay the fighters what they are worth to them. If the UFC spent less on growing the sport, they would not then put the money into fighters. They would just keep the money. The reality is that, as a business, they are looking at ways to grow and make more money.
I hate to shamelessly plug my blog, but I have recently written about whether or not this way of running a sport is good for MMA’s development.
