After reading what I just typed, its little more than incoherent rambling. But I'm posting it anyway because fuck you. And because this is the feeling an MMA card gives a person.
Few words adequately describe the feeling I have after an awesome fight card. Euphoric. Ever so slightly surreal. Just sitting back and thinking "god damn that was awesome". Watching a night of fights like the ones at UFC 142 is why MMA is the best sport on the planet. You just get that feeling of awesome. A Knockout of the Year contender (c'mon, who am I kidding. KotY winner, easily) just shocking everyone is one of the most unbeatable feelings in sports. Better than a walk off home run or a buzzer beater or time expiring touchdown. Things like sweet, sweet justice coming to the Hamburgler inside a single round. The titleholder defending his belt and then partying in the stands for five minutes. It all came together to create a beautiful card. Sure, 142 had its reffing and production faults (I'm looking at you, Joe Rogan. If that was in the states there is zero chance he calls out Mario), but the fight quality was able to supersede all of that.
MMA has the best replay ability of any sport, and its not really a contest. I'll probably watch each fight on the main card one or two more times tomorrow, because it was just that awesome. I love watching the card and then hitting up the internet to discuss it because I just can't get enough (MMA also has the best online media presence, hands down). 142 was fantastic, and that won't even win Card of the Year. We have some fun ahead of us. MMA is the greatest sport in the world.
