UFC 142 Aldo Vs. Mendes Results: Yuri Alcantara Defeats Michiro Omigawa By Unanimous Decision

Yuri Alcantara defeats Michihiro Omigawa by Unanimous Decision. The Judges scored the fight 30-27, 29-28, 30-27.

Michihiro Omigawa ate a knee to the body almost immediately. Alcantara followed up with punches but wasn't able to put Omigawa away. He settled in and landed a left hand that staggered Omigawa. Omigawa closed the distance and landed a looping right hook. Yuri Alcantara wiffed on a head kick but landed a straight left flush to the chin. Knee the the body and then a spinning back elbow drop Omigawa. Alcantara takes his back but Omigawa stands up and drops him on his back to work from Alcantara's guard. Omigawa passes to half guard and peppers Alcantara with short punches. Alcantara threw his legs over with a deep armbar. There was no tap and it looked like Leon Roberts called the fight. Replays show he did not.

Head kick from Alcantara as the round opens. Spinning back fist from Omigawa is blocked. Omigawa got tagged again and dropped. Alcantara took his back and then settled into working from his guard. He passed to half guard while Omigawa looked for a leg. He used it to pass to mount and then took Omigawa's back. Alcantara peppered Michihiro Omigawa with strikes to look for a rear naked choke. Omigawa defended well but was unable to stop the relentless attacks of Yuri Alcantara. Omigawa attempted a reverse armbar but Yuri Alcantara stayed a step ahead and passed to the opposite side.

Yuri Alcantara looked stiff as the third round opened. He was moving around the cage very flat footed while Omigawa used some fancy foot movements to close distance. Alcantara very labored in his movement. His punches still landed but not with much behind them. Two elbows from Omigawa and then a judo trip takedown. He landed some punches but the referee stood the fighters up to close the round. Omigawa looked for one final judo throw but Alcantara defended and landed in mount.

Yuri Alcantara entered the fight 1-0 in the UFC and 26-3 overall. He is now 27-3 with this win over Michihiro Omigawa. Michihiro Omigawa drops to 13-11-1 with the loss. He is now 1-5 in the UFC.
