There have been a few recent changes to a couple of upcoming UFC events, so we'll get you up to speed here. First off, Canadian light heavyweight standout, Ryan Jimmo, was scheduled to make his UFC debut next week at the FX card in Nashville against Karlos Vemola, but an ankle injury suffered in training, has left Jimmo unable to compete according to TopMMANews.com:
Top MMA News has learned that Ryan Jimmo will be unable to make his UFC debut in Nashville next week. Jimmo suffered an injury to his right ankle while training and is unable to fight.
There's not yet been any announcement of plans to find Vemola a new opponent on short notice, or to just scrap the fight entirely, but we'll keep you updated when that's confirmed.
In the good news department, another fight has been added to the UFC's Fuel TV debut in Omaha on February 15th. Middleweights, Buddy Roberts and Sean Loeffler, will both be making their UFC debuts when they face off against each other on the preliminary card. MMA Weekly reported the booking:
Sources close to the fight confirmed the bout to MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday with verbal agreements in place for the Feb. bout.
Roberts is a member of Greg Jackson's team in New Mexico, and has competed mainly on the southwest regional scene. His most recent victory was a decision win over King of the Cage light heavyweight champ, Tony Lopez, although that decision was contested by some. Nonetheless, it was Roberts's fifth consecutive win. Loeffler trains at The Compound in Oceanside, California, and holds a brown belt in BJJ under Bob Bass. Loeffler has more big-league experience than Roberts, having competed for Bellator, Gladiator Challenge, and King of the Cage, amassing a 25-5 record in the process.
