UFC 142 betting (UK)

I'll be betting with paddypower.com, as I'm not going to risk bankruptcy with multiple online gambling accounts and it has the most comprehensive set of odds for MMA, including odds for all UFC and Strikeforce cards, with method and round betting to boot.

Underdog Value

Sam Stout is an 11/10 underdog against Thiago Tavares on the undercard, and I could see some value with this. Tavares has never been the most consistent fighter and Stout has finally begun living up to some of the promise he showed in a very rocky start to his UFC career. Stout has a habit of winning close decisions thanks to his offensive output on the feet, and could just as easily KO Tavares. Shane Roller managed it and he is no kickboxing standout.

Terry Etim at 2/1 over Edson Barboza is another underdog with some upside. A dangerous submission game combined against a fighter who is yet to fully convince me of his overall place in the lightweight division.

Michihiro Omigawa 6/4 vs. Yuri Alcantara. He should be the favourite. By no means a sure thing as like any MMA fight, it caould all end with one punch, but Omigawa has great grappling and has been unlucky thus far in the UFC. A loss to Chad Mendes and a rip off decision vs. Darren Elkins. Definitely worth a shout

Avoid

Chad Mendes at 2/1 over José Aldo. I can see a case for Mendes winning, but the odds would have to be considerably greater than 2/1 for me to risk throwing money down on him

Erick Silva 1/5 vs. Carlo Prater. I expect Silva to win, but he is still a prospect and he is a HUGE favourite against a decent fighter. Stick him in an accumulator. The same goes for Mike Pyle at 1/6. I expect him to win, but his performances fluctuate so drastically sometimes there's always room for an upset

Other Markets

Rousimar Palhares is 11/4 to win inside the first round, or if you're not too confident on a finish that early, the fight is still 8/13 to be under 2.5 rounds and 4/7 to not go the distance, which I expect thanks to Palhares' brute strength and terrifying submissions.

Paddy Power have a 'samba special' with Aldo, Belfort and Palhares to win at 2/1. An improvement on the treble odds. Worth a look if you want to go crazy, Otherwise it's only a fraction above the treble price.

Bets

Palhares vs. Massenzio total rounds less than 2.5 - £10

Treble of Silva, Carvalho, Palhares - £5

Omigawa to win £10

Palhares to win in Round 1 - seeing as I got a free bet for signing up to the fight £10

Bear in mind I'm working part time. Full time work will eventually lead to more masculine betting

treble?

I only know a parlay as when you talk to a pirate without fear of him dicking you around...

but from the way you guys use it on this site, then yes it’s the same.

Double = two bets together
Triple = three bets

I guess what you’d call a parlay I’d call an accumulator, or as dude-1981 says double or treble of 2 or three bets.

Whatever I call it though I didn’t will the damn bet anyway.

I did end up with a return of £53.65, even though I lost 3 of my 5 bets. Not too bad I guess

I went into a bookies today and the guy had no idea what UFC was. He rang up other bookies asking for odds and described it as ‘that boxing kickboxing thing’ They told him they had no odds either so I went to paddypower online. I’m betting 10 on AJ/Rumble to not go the distance, 10 on Stout Tavares going over 2.5 rounds and 10 on Aldo, Vitor and Palhares all winning

Going into William Hills to bet on UFC was one of the most painful experiences of my life

So after the first tie I just made a paddy power account & do it from there.

I think all this just goes to show how far the sport still has to go here

If most of the major bookies are not offering odds on any mma except straight match betting then there must still not be that much interest, considering the amount of markets offered for almost every other sport

whats weird is the guy said he rung paddy power and they didnt have any details for it online. Which was clearly a lie
