Cole Miller vs. Steven Siler, Kyle Noke vs. Jared Hamman Added to UFC on FX 2 in Sydney
Another pair of match-ups have been slated for the UFC's return to Sydney, Australia on March 3rd for UFC on FX 2. According to a report from TheMMACorner.com, Cole Miller will make his featherweight debut against Stephen Siler, while Australia's own Kyle Noke will take on Jared Hamman in a middleweight bout.
The Miller-Siler match-up has bit of a storyline behind it, as Cole's younger brother Micah, was defeated by Siler in the opening round of TUF 14, despite Miller being a heavy favorite to win the entire show. Now Cole will get the chance to avenge his brother's loss, at a new weight class of 145 lbs., despite his having won his last fight at lightweight. Siler, meanwhile, made it all the way to the semifinals on TUF before getting KOd by eventual winner, Diego Brandao. The Californian got another chance at the season finale, and dominated Josh Clopton for a decision victory.
It's no surprise that Kyle Noke ended up on this card as one of the UFC's few Australian fighters. In addition to being a regional draw, Noke had put together a solid 3-0 run in the UFC following his appearance on the 11th season of TUF, before getting caught in a heel hook against Ed Herman, and suffering the first loss of his UFC career. Hamman is also coming off a cringe-inducing loss, after getting knocked out (seemingly multiple times) by Constantinos Philippou in Toronto last month, but it appears now that "The Messenger" didn't need much time to clear the cobwebs and will return in Sydney in March.
The UFC on FX 2 card now includes:
-Thiago Alves vs. Martin Kampmann
-Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani
-Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall
-Court McGee vs. Constantinos Philippou
-T.J. Waldburger vs. Jake Hecht
-James Te Huna vs. Aaron Rosa
-Cole Miller vs. Steven Siler
-Kyle Noke vs. Jared Hamman

Belcher for sure needs to get a fight pretty soon here....
they might be waiting to give him Palhares should he get through Massenzio.
Palhares is 6-2 in his UFC career, only losing to Henderson and Marquardt (controversially, I might add).
I’d love to see Belcher/Palhares with the winner shooting into “contender status”
Basically the same type of fight Diaz and Cerrone just had.
If you are going to lie to me, then we are going to box
I hope this card gets a decent ME

Its ok for a non numbered event...
But there are still tickets available for a reason, Because neither fighter has any name value and neither are even close to the title picture.
BJ Penn and Shogun Rua fan for life.
That's why it's headlining a non-numbered event
You know, like what you put in your subject line.

So will the UFC have the top 2 Flyweights after this event?

Formiga recently lost to Ian McCall
But he could easily be number 2. I’ve never seen someone so good at taking the back.

I couldn't stop laughing
when Nate Diaz told everyone Miller helped him train because he hates Cerrone.
Noke should get back on track in this one

Team Captain for Ruining Your Special Night. That's what we do.
Yeah, I expect Noke to win fairly handily.

hmm Jared Hamman always comes back from a loss well...
Noke probably gets the nod here because it’s on his home turf but I expect a war in this one.

I think that if Noke can get this to the ground, he should win. Hamman just keeps pushing forward, especially in the standup, and I just don’t know how Noke will handle that.

Why is Miller dropping a weight class? He’s already incredibly lanky.
by ihateemo on Jan 2, 2012 6:05 AM EST via mobile reply actions
Yeah, dude is 6’1.. already looks pretty drawn out at lightweight. Although I can see at wikipedia that he used to fight at FW in 2005-2006

He did get beat up by Matt Wyman in an MMA bout not too long ago, but came back from it. Cole has done relatively well as a Lightweight, but he can’t seem to get past being a mid-tier UFC Lightweight. Maybe he figures that Featherweight is thinner and still in a growing stage, and that he can get higher up the ladder much faster.

With a size advantage
Cole might be able to impose his ground game easier, which is pretty slick.

I think this is a good move for Cole. Like I said above, he can’t seem to get past being a mid-tier UFC Lightweight, but could do much better at Featherweight. He is very tall and lanky as it is, and I have always liked his ground game.

Pretty sure Siler got eliminated in the quarters
War Cole Miller! One of the more under rated guys in the UFC

Also, this is going to be a war
Would have liked it on the main card
