Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Set for UFC 140 in Toronto
The UFC has added another feature bout to the rapidly-filling UFC 140 card in Toronto on December 10th. In a light heavyweight bout that was originally supposed to happen last March but was canceled due to injury, Tito Ortiz will meet Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, as announced on UFC.com tonight:
Verbal agreements are for a match between two of the most accomplished light heavyweights in the sport as Rogerio "Lil Nog" Nogueira will face the "Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz December 10th at UFC 140 in Toronto.
Nogueira and Ortiz were originally set to meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night in March, but an injury sidelined Ortiz, and Phil Davis fought in his place. (Trivia time: Five months later, Ortiz repaid the favor by stepping in for an injured Davis at UFC 133, an from which Nogueira was also forced to withdraw due to injury.)
Nogueira's twin brother Rodrigo will also be competing on the Toronto card in a heavyweight rematch against Frank Mir, marking the first time that the two have fought on the same card while in the UFC.
Tito Ortiz (16-9-1)
Loss Rashad Evans (TKO - UFC 133
Win Ryan Bader (submission - guillotine) - UFC 132
Loss Matt Hamill (unam. decision) - UFC 121
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (19-5)
Loss Phil Davis (unam. decision) - UFN 24
Loss Ryan Bader (unam. decision) - UFC 119
Win Jason Brilz (split decision) - UFC 114

Seriously. WTH is going on with that card? I wait a decade for a UFC event in San Jose, and right now I’ve got Faber v Bowles as the main event…yeesh!
Allow me to put things in perspective for you.
I live in Panama. I can only get ppv. We don’t have spike, HDNet or Showtime. And if I want to see a live event it’s definitely a chore. I have a place in Miami where I pay for the premium cable package so if on the off chance I’m in Miami while an event is on Showtime I can watch it live. If not, I DVR all my mma events and watch them way taped delayed!

Yes, but....
Living in Panama with a pied de terre sounds like you’re a straight boss. I’m fairly certain the average Panamanian does not live like this.
Maybe you should consider getting a satellite dish; if that’s an option, I believe that would score you everything your heart desires.

Agreed, no complaints about my life other than not enough MMA.
Problem is that most satellite dishes are for Latin America, it’s not the U.S. satellite. ESPN Deportes, Fox espanol etc.. Even my ppv is in Spanish which although not ideal isn’t bad. Only other option is the huge dish which is Nasaesque! And even then would need like 4 of them because only certain channels can be had only each dish.

Also
Nog’s takedown D should be solid after 4 straight fights with wrestlers. It looked pretty good vs Davis until Phil switched it up.
Brilz, Bader, and Davis
Wait, you are probably counting Ortiz as the 4th…my bad.
But yeah, he showed solid takedown defense against Davis…and overall increasing takedown defense from Brilz to this point…so it should be better then ever in this fight.

Tito via KO. That's right. A straight KO. No GnP involved.
"You're... you're crazy man. I like you, but you're crazy."
Are you implying that Tito will take a dive?

Not necessarily
It’s just that he is facing a better striker. Rashad was able to get the TKO, I think Nogueira will do the same… Maybe even with a slap.
Uh...okay.
I’m just sayin’…’cause that kid totally took a dive…

Brilz won
So how is my prediction off base? Lil Nog hasn’t won a fight in the UFC. He has also faced lesser skilled fighters than Tito. I’ll use MMAmath and give you Bader as a test subject.
"You're... you're crazy man. I like you, but you're crazy."
Brilz lost dude. It is not like Nog Leonard Garcia’d him. It was close and could have gone either way. No robbery.
Dear Brock Lesnar,
Please beat Alistair Overeem. That is all.

Pretty close to robbery. And it was worse than some Garcia decisions.
"You're... you're crazy man. I like you, but you're crazy."
You're right
That fight was razor close, could have gone either way. The first round had brilz get one takedown, and do no damage, and take some shots on the feet and get swept by Nogueira.
I scored it live for Nog and watched it numerous times and tried and tried to see how Brilz wins that fight.
He doesn’t. Forget the “Oh shit Brilz is a guy who is pretty good but we just didn’t hear of him yet!” factor and score the fight. Nog wins. Nog also got jobbed on the Bader decision.

I see this looking much like Nog/Brilz
I think Tito can grind out the decision if his gas tank is solid. If he gasses it could look more like Forrest/Tito 2.
" Tell me something Steve, How does a guy from Puerto Rico loose a ball in the Sun? "
I doubt Nogueira trained his wrestling much for Brilz (he was supposed to fight Forrest, remember). There’s a reason Brilz had the most success taking Nog down, and it’s not because he’s a better wrestler than Davis or Bader. Nogueira’s TDD against Bader and Davis was all right, and they’re both better wrestlers than Tito.
Forrest is huge and takes guys down a lot
I doubt he wouldn’t train his wrestling.

I haven't said this in about six years....
I think Tito’s got this!
Winner keeps on the senior circuit to face Franklin/Forrest/Hendo/Janitor/Bonnar, loser gets fed to Gustafsson/returning Thiago/Markes

I'm not surprised he was pacing wildly
Seeing as how he was about 63% horse at the time.

Thiago is really nice. My wife met him recently and she was scared shitless because of the tattoos. He just walked up to her and was really friendly.
And he had just gotten a new throat tattoo the day before.

When I met him at his gym he had just gotten a brass knuckled tattoo on the back of his hand. He just come from the parlor, unwrapped the saran wrap they put over it, and started training.

I'm pickin Tito
By no means do I think Tito is “back”, but I don’t think Lil’ Nog was ever all he was made out to be and stylistically wrestlers have given him A LOT of problems on his recent skid.
Ortiz by decision.

Good fight
I would want to say it should be a loser leaves town match.
But considering that if Tito hadn’t done a HUGE favor for the UFC…he’d be coming off of a big win heading into this fight, and the fact that I am a big fan of the Nogs…I don’t want it to be.
But all things considered, I expect that if someone loses bad here, particularly Nog….that they will probably be sent packing.

Dana will never ever cut Tito. Not going to happen.
Lil Nog. Maybe but with the relationship ZUFFA has with blackhouse guys I think he’d gave him alot of rope.
Never? Really?
It seemed to me, and everyone else, that Tito was one loss away from being cut at 132.
Or is one win every four years good enough to stay in the UFC?

He looked good in every fight except the Hamill fight
And he still won round 1 of that one. Both Tito and Lil Nog are fighting upper echelon guys. Usually guys at the top of the food chain have a longer rope than Prospect A who comes into the UFC and loses 2 fights in a row.
" Tell me something Steve, How does a guy from Puerto Rico loose a ball in the Sun? "
Fair enough, but still
Most guys seems to get cut after 3 losses in a row, which would be the case for Nog…although some get to push it to 4 before being cut…while a certain British asshole will be permitted 5 straight losses before being cut.
But still, losing 6 of your last 7 can’t be good. I mean, I completely understand that legends of the sport should get extra leeway, but at some point, if you can’t perform then you can’t perform.
But more then likely they would allow Tito to lose this Nog fight, and then permit him one more loss before cutting him.
I like the idea of neither being cut with a loss…but I just get the feeling that it might be the case.

I think both guys are safe either way
Just on the fact that both guys have massive name recognition. Both guys are still useful to push prospects through. Both guys are still top 15-20 LHW’s.
When Nog and Tito lose to guys like Eliot Marshall or Igor Proko then I will say they probably need to be cut. However when the losses or to nothing buy top 5ers. Then I understand the need to a longer leash.

I think Nog will wipe the floor with him.
He defended the take down very well first half of the fight against Davis. He wont have to worry about that kind of pace with Tito.
Lil Nog getting FAR too much credit here
I seem to remember that Brilz fight went the wrong way. I thought Brilz won that fight. That would make 3 losses in a row. He looks slow and very mediocre. I think Tito is faster and more healthy at this stage of his career. As Rampage says, Tito’s “got this”.
"I think he doesn't accept punches very well. I don't know why." - JDS speaking of Brock Lesnar
The Brilz fight was close
and some people (not me) thought he won the bader fight. And he looked good to start against Davis. Not really all that bad.
Head conductor of the Charles Oliveira hype train.
Nog gets wrestle-fucked again
And unlike Davis, Brilz, and Bader – Tito knows what to do when he takes someone down. Nog gets his face caved in by Tito’s elbows
Vote Quimby
Tito will be lucky to take him down once. Nog wins a lip sided decision.
