A lot of analysis has been made in the last 20 hours about what fight we lost and what fight we gained at yesterdays insane press conference. We've stacked up the physical attributes of both men trying to see if the new fight is as compelling as the bout we were promised. It's not.
Is Carlos a bigger threat? Possibly. He is aggressive, hits hard and has no quit. He'll be trying to finish GSP the entire fight. In many ways he is Nick Diaz with a few more smiles in that regard. He has a more varied attack, but I'm not sure you could construe that as a more effective attack. I love the fight. In my personal opinion, GSP has a greater chance to lose a fight to Carlos Condit than Nick Diaz. I also don't care one bit about that. Why?
Because we lose this:

And frankly, that is what I want. Win or lose, I wanted a guy who would fearlessly and irreverently tell Georges St. Pierre to fuck himself. I wanted to see a man look into the face of one of the greatest and not give a single fuck about who he was fighting or why. And now we don't get that and it sucks.
Condit is great. I love the fight. Had Nick Diaz vs GSP never been on the table I wouldn't be disapointed in the fight at all. But now all I can think about is the special event we miss in favor of a solid fight. I get enough solid fights. I wanted a spectacle.
