#9 Rafael Cavalcante and #11 Muhammed Lawal both faced and defeated lower (or un)ranked opposition at Strikeforce World Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov keeping their names in the discussion of contenders at 205.
The next month currently has no top 25 light heavyweight action scheduled, though the following months should make up for it.
Based on the premise that all MMA rankings are subjective but that it’s still useful and informative to know who the online MMA community as a whole ranks as the best fighters in MMA, we collect and average the rankings of the top MMA websites to produce our consensus rankings. We compile the top MMA rankings from each of our sources and award 25 points for a first place ranking, 16 for a 10th place ranking, 1 for a 25th place ranking. A formula is used to "normalize" the data so all fighters are awarded points from those lists that do not include a full 25 fighters. This formula ensures that each ranking site awards the same number of total points regardless of how many fighters they choose to rank. Each fighter’s total is divided by the number of possible points to determine their standing in the Consensus Rankings.

LIke any steroid user
and lair and cheater. He does not believe in himself enough that he has to cheat to get to the top. Even with cheating he lost to Lyoto and Evans. This guy is done because when the shit its the fan he looks for the easy way out

We have no idea

True,
although he is an ATT guy IIRC, and they certainly should have known, even if he didn’t. I’ll agree it looks suspicious, but…

do not make me laugh
He has no one to explain this stuff properly to him lol. Just another excuse like all the others that come out when someone gets caught cheating
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 2:24 PM EDT up reply actions
You know they're all on drugs, right?
And they always have been.
If you’re not using in the UFC, you’re in the minority.
How can you say that
Until you are proven to be a cheater you cannot be called one. How can you say they are all on drugs have you seen them shoot up have you seen them buy the pills. Unless you are proven a cheater you have no right to call someone a cheater
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 2:31 PM EDT up reply actions
Barnett
One of my fav fighters has been caught many times. Everytime he gets caught he gets punished as such for cheating
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions
C'mon son!
Just because most guys haven’t gotten caught doesn’t mean most guys aren’t using. The Athletic Commission’s drug testing policies are, by and large, a joke.
Thinking that most professional athletes are on roids isn’t cynical, it’s common sense. Guys who want to be the best are willing to do whatever it takes to get there.
by MS_Dos_Santos on Sep 30, 2011 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions
You cannot say it
with out proof ever heard the saying innocent to proven guilty. Until you are proven to be a cheater you should not be called one or thought to be one. On the testing if its a joke then get rid of it i have been saying this for years or simply stop trying to regulate drug use. As it stands now everyone knows the rules and if you break them you are a cheater. Same as kicking a downed opponent. If you take drugs to gain a competitive edge you are a cheater simple as that
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions
So with that logic
If Silva said he wasn’t using steroids but something else we should believe him right? After all…until he’s caught with a failed test for STEROIDS how could we possibly jump to any conclusions…
He sent in a false urine sample for one
So obviously he was doing something not on the up and up. Sending in a false urine sample is also cheating. You know before hand that you need to send a urine sample in that is yours not a false one. So yes he is still a cheater
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 4:06 PM EDT up reply actions
yep you are right my bad
i jumped the gun on the steroids thing
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 4:06 PM EDT up reply actions
I’m sure you’ll find a couple ranked fighters who have been caught using peds in the past and continue to do well.
Nnot sure what you mean by “cheating when he lost to Machida and evans (a fight that could easily by scored a draw)”, unless you want to assume every fighter does steroids without proof. It’s not as if his explanation seems far fetched either. He has had plenty of issues with his back injuries before. He was out for a year going into the Vera fight because of his back.
What Gegard
is about King Mo really that really does not make much sense. Other then that i really cannot complain about the list it makes sense to me
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 1:02 PM EDT reply actions
This must be a joke
Forrest Griffin is not a top 10 LHW. The only top ten lists he belongs on are 1) top MMA commedians and 2) top over-rated LHW. Phil Davis does not belong on the top ten list. Phil Davis may be one day but has not proven it yet.
So who is above
Forrest

i'm sorry but
i just don’t see anything special about FG. He’s funny but…did you see the Anderson Silva, Rashaad Evans, or the 2nd Shogun fight. He’s awful against top competition and mediocre against mid level competition.

my opinion but...
i believe gegard and silva would beat him. don’t think either are top 10. may just be a lack of competition.
Or that
Forrest is not as bad as everyone thinks he is. This guy has beaten some of the best and for Gegard beating him do not make me laugh. This guy has done nothing at 205 to show me otherwise man
by Mark Colemans Takedown coach on Sep 30, 2011 1:18 PM EDT up reply actions
Nah man
Didn’t you see the way Gegard handled Jardine? Oh wait…
He did handle Jardine... did you watch that fight?

The only reason that was a draw is because of the wrestling bias of the judges/URs…

They both should be up there
Davis beat Stann, lil Nog, and Gustafsson (Gust’s only MMA loss) who are all really good fighters. Forrest is still in top ten because he finished Shogun, then he beat Rampage in back to back fights. He also beat Tito and Rich Franklin who are quality fighters. Him losing to Shogun, Anderson, and Rashad is no that big of deal for me.

An out of shape Shogun and Rampage not taking him serious
Do not make me laugh that is some lame rational and hater mentality. He beat them actually beat the crap out of them. He was the LHW champ what has Gegard done………………………… oh wait he held the Dream title which means about nothing lol

The problem here is that now you are simply discrediting Griffin’s opposition. Rampage was out of shape, Shogun needed surgery after that first fight and therefore out of shape, Tito is irrelevant, Franklin is too small. The thing is that you can do that with just about any fighter. It comes off like you are “reaching” for reasons why Griffin isn’t any good when in fact, his record indicates that he is a top ten Light Heavyweight.

Tito is irrelevant to

Babalu wore a predator mask?
It's that the world is basically a forced labor camp from which the workers, perfectly innocent, are led forth by lottery, a few each day, to be executed.
I don't think that's just the way I see it. I think that's the way it is. Are there alternative views? Yes. Will any of them stand close scrutiny? No.

You just made an excuse for his 4 biggest wins. It’s not his fault Rampage took him lightly. That would be Rampage’s fault for taking a title fight lightly. Franklin is not small, Forrest is big, you’re kind of right about Tito but he wasn’t as bad in 09 when they fought. Also, Shogun coming in out of shape is not Forrest’s fault. They both agreed to fight and Forrest won.

Renato Sobral
The only light heavyweight free agent in the top 25…everyone else is with Zuffa.
And Sobral is busy trying to get a 205 fight with MW Hector Lombard.
I would say Lombard wins that match…killing Sobral’s stock as a top 25 205-er…and temporarily putting Lombard in the top 25 of the 205, just for him to slowly fall out of the rankings as he returns to MW.

![Always honest, Forrest Griffin tells Sherdog he's anticipating a difficult weight cut and conditioning issues for his upcoming fight in Rio against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua:
"I definitely put on more weight than I would like," Griffin told Sherdog.com. "I need to cut weight and it won’t be easy. I’ll have a lot of problems until the fight in Brazil, but I’ve gotta do it. I don’t want to fight at heavyweight, so I gotta cut that f--king weight."
"He’s one of the best fighters ever," Griffin said of his opponent, who he submitted in September 2007. "He has a blitz style. He goes forward. He’s dangerous. I gotta make him move backward and let’s see what happens. I want to go hard for all 15 minutes of the fight."
"It’s difficult to adjust yourself [to another country]," said Griffin. "There’s the jetlag thing, and it’s difficult to make weight since Brazil doesn’t have the distilled water I use in the U.S. and the food I need to eat. It’s always difficult to change your routine when you go to another country. I feel stupid because I can’t communicate with people from the hotels and can’t even say how I want my eggs. It’s clearly a pain in the ass."
