Best of his generation? Somewhat of a stretch.
Oustanding fighter agree totally but not best ever. And by saying best of his generation you are basically saying he is the best all time because we basically only have 2 generations. We have the Hughes generation and now the Jones generation.

depends on what you consider a 'generation'....
If you mean pre-TUF, I absolutely agree that he was the best. Fedor was just picking up steam and would peak a few years later, Silva after that. Who knows who is next. But post-Zuffa UFC, it was all hughes, baby.

I would say we have two generations so far. Hughes, Gracie, Fedor etc.. and now Jones and the rest of the young guns.
