MusclePharm Signs Two-Year Sponsorship Agreement With UFC

Photo

Nutritional supplement company MusclePharm has firmed up ties with the UFC, signing a two-year deal to become the official nutritional supplement of the promotion in the USA and Canada. The UFC released the news via press release. MP was already a primary sponsor of many UFC fighters, and also has sponsorship deals with Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Eagles superstar quarterback Michael Vick.

BE's own Matt Roth has written in the past about MusclePharm's financials, and it remains to be seen whether this will turn out to be a good deal for the UFC. It seems like a great move for MP, considering the UFC's impending move to Fox.

MusclePharm recently built a huge gym in Denver that MMA fighters that sponsored fighters can train at, and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson decided to move in and train there in preparation for his UFC 135 light heavyweight title fight with champion Jon Jones. Yesterday's UFC 135 open workouts took place in the facility.

After the Matt Roth article my jaw hit the floor and exited in hong kong when I saw the new training facility. After this news it’s probably somehwere in space…

Either they're masterminds in the art of "investment"

or they’re as good in investing as MMA promoters.

OMG not a smart move

The Roth article spelled it out, this was basically a venture capital shot in the dark and really has no real financial legs. You’d think by being on fox they’d have more creditable companies to choose from for sponsorships.

who cares about that? If the UFC is getting paid in cash and can end the agreement if they miss payments, none of the stuff in Roth’s article matters.

If they want to set money on fire everyone that can get some of that cash should take it.

90% of all supplement makers are the same...

They come and go all the time. MP seems to make a pretty good product, at least in my experience, and I don’t think they are any less credible than any of the other thousands of supplement companies out there. I guess my question is—does their financial history make them credible, or is it their ability to make a good product? I would say that if they make a good product, they are a credible manufacturer, but they might not be in business very long.

I'm willing to bet you can walk into any "supplements" store

Take roughly 50% of their products, and will piss hot. I’m also willing to bet you can take 25% of their products, analyze them, and find 99% rice powder.

Supplement stores are a fucking racket (in my opinion).

This is highly unlikely.

Don't rain on my hyperbole parade

FIne then. 25%. 14%. A certain percent.

All I know is from personal experience as both a customer and friend to a long-time GNC employee – they have some seriously unregulated stuff, both on display and behind the counter.

My point is that if you want to take supplements, just be a man and stack Dbol with test, do a bunch of squats and deadlifts, and start a ton of fights at bars.

At least it's not a casino or gambling sponsor... lol

With the demographic that the UFC draws, you would’ve thought more video game companies would like to be a sponsor for the UFC but all you see are occasionally commercials only when they have a new game to promote.
