Still a little sketchy but...
Huge improvements

The main problem with the submission system is...
They don’t show actual improvements in the submission as you’re fighting for it. The triangle choke starts off with the foot completely behind the knee, the arm across, and the fighter pulling down on the head. This is about as locked in as a triangle is ever going to be (although it would be a little tighter if he underhooked the leg and got to an angle). Therefore it’s ridiculous that a) the fighter on top can just sit there somehow “fighting” a submission that is completely locked in and would put him out long before the little submission game is up and b) all of the sudden escape a sub well past the point when most escapes are possible.
The remedy for this disconnect between how real subs and escapes actually work is to do the submission in stages as the mini-game goes on. As the fighter applying the triangle starts winning, have him drag the arm across. Conversely, have the defending fighter get his arm back when he has the advantage. Likewise you can have the attacking fighter pull down on the head or underhook as the sub nears completion and the defending fighter get posture back if he makes a comeback. There are probably technical reasons why this is not possible or at least very difficult, but it destroys the realism to have someone sit in a completely locked in choke for 20 seconds then suddenly escape without having done ANYTHING in the interim to defend or get blood flow back.
Make triangles only possible in a more realistic way, as GnP or position change counters, where your counter starts the attempt and then you work from there
I think it could be done. It will get there eventually. Every year gets a bit better

I still get a kick out of how they blatantly ripped off EA’s submission system. I loved EA MMA’s sub system though, so I’m very happy about the change. What I don’t like though, is how the visual for it takes up the whole damn screen. I was expecting a smaller octagon at the bottom of the screen. Regardless, this should be much, much better.
I was hella critical of UFC 2010, but this looks like a big improvement. I really want to see what they’ve done with career mode though, because 2010’s was horrific with all the menu jumping.

Yeah they ripped off EA pretty bad here. Im pretty shocked
EA hasn’t said something or filed some type of infringement. It would be like 2k stealing Madden’s QB vision system.
Biggest issue with me has always been the Striking more than the ground
It has been absolutely horrid the last 2 games. THQ needs to finally get it right and put out a much more fluid game. For one a parry system would be awesome or some type mode that allows for realistic combos to be put together not just mashing and going rockem sockem.
Is Josh barnett in the game?
And if you get mount with him is that the equivalent of God mode?

does anyone know if you can play a fight in real time, a la ea mma?
or if you’re forced to play in the thq time acceleration zone.
Still looks like the same robotic game as the others.
To me it just has no feeling in it. Still fun to play though if you have a group of friends over after watching a ppv so I might pick it up when its cheaper.
Oh look
The stamina factor once again has not changed. Can’t wait to see my Stamina be at 40% and the CPU’s at 90% after I dominate him with wrestling or ground work but I still get submitted.
Seriously, after almost a year off you’d think there would be more significant changes. The submission aspect of it looks annoying and it takes up way too much of the screen and it just looks like the same thing as UFC 2010 which was by far the worst MMA game since UFC Throwdown.
uuuh yeah I write for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Thanks?
video doesn’t work? says uploader deleted it?
Now I've switched signature to this one.
