It's a foregone conclusion which will get more eyeballs, but boxing PPVs are infamous for bad cards and boring headliners. Which event will have the better quality fights this weekend? The Mayweather vs Ortiz boxing ppv or the UFC's Battle of the Two Jakes? Jonathan Snowden makes his prediction at MMA Nation.

I concur with that....

Belcher vs Macdonald is what I want to watch the most out of that entire card.

Diaz?

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

Since when is Mayweather an exciting fighter?

you should ask this on a boxing site also lol

I love ufc but much rather watch pbf over Jake Shields. Not even close.

no kidding

i can’t even name you five boxers, but the UFC card this weekend is super shallow and the boxing card is nuts. this isn’t even close.

yeah....

Boxing this weekend is going to dominate. Im def buying it. I only buy like 1 or 2 boxing PPVs a year. This is def going to be one.

Even forgetting the main event of PBF vs. Ortiz

The co-main event has Canelo Alvarez vs. Alfonso Gomez and then Erik Morales, coming off his WAR with Marcos Maidana is in the fight prior to that.

At least two of these fights are likely to deliver. It’s the best Boxing PPV top to bottom in a long long time. You’d think they’re feeling the heat from the UFC and taking a page out of their book, given how many well known boxers are on the card.

This isn't even close IMO

UFN 25 is a weak card even by Fight Night standards. This is one of the best boxing PPVs of the year.

Jon Snowden has lost his pugilistic mind if he thinks Ortiz will beat Mayweather. Mayweather looks good for a stoppage win in this one, pretty good odds available too! This is the first UFC card in 15 years i genuinely couldn’t care less about.

De La Hoya broke it down pretty well.

Him, Marquez and Mosley were all well into their declines when PBF fought them. Floyd is also coming back from a 16 month layoff at the age of 34, with a whole lot of personal turmoil having taken place in that off time. This will be the first time in a VERY long time that he has faced a young fighter on the upswing of his career and not even Floyd can escape the adverse effects of aging forever. The first thing to go is your speed.

Which number will be larger

The Boxing PPV buyrate or the ratings for UFN?

I say Mayweather gets 1.4 mil and UFN gets 1.2.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

by SSreporters on Sep 15, 2011 1:39 PM EDT reply actions

1.2 is very generous

It is on tape delay for the west coast and has zero marquee fighters

by mortarz on Sep 15, 2011 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions

1.4 mil?

Mayweather/ Mosley only did 1.2, and I would consider Sugar Shane to be a much bigger name than Ortiz.
