Fabio Maldonado Off UFC on Versus 6 Card Due to Injury

Photo

UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado is a guy that a lot of fans are interested in watching. Unfortunately, they won't be watching him on October 1st. MMA Weekly brings the news:

Fabio Maldonado’s opportunity to get his UFC career back on track has been sidelined.

UFC officials on Wednesday announced that Maldonado had to pull out of his scheduled UFC on Versus 6 bout with Aaron Rosa due to injury.

Maldonado started off his UFC career in fine fashion by dispatching James McSweeney via TKO in third round at UFC 120, but dropped to 1-1 in an extremely entertaining loss to Kyle Kingsbury at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale in June. Despite the unanimous decision loss, the pro boxer's use of body shots won over the crowd and many fans, and he picked up a $40,000 bonus for fight of the night.

No replacement to face Rosa has been named as of yet.

Winner of Rosa/Igor gets Maldonado once Fabio gets healed up

Loser of Igor vs Rosa may have to take a couple regional fights for a bit, right?

maldonado

he got screwed in the Kingsbury fight. if it had gone one more round, Kingsbury would’ve retired with 8 broken ribs.

I was looking forward to this fight as Maldonado always brings it. His body punches are lethal, and he showed a good ability to get back to his feet against Kingsbury. I thought that Maldonado should have won against Kingsbury. It’s also interesting that Maldonado is a small Light Heavyweight, fights at a pretty good pace, but doesn’t seem to get that tired in his fights.

I have no doubt Maldonado can go 5 rounds if not more standing. He’s got that true boxers striking stamina. I worry though, that as he climbs the LHW ranks, he’ll start getting grappled to death. Whats his cardio like on the fence and on the bottom?

NO! GAWD!

I was looking forward to seeing him fight live…Aaron Rosa, not so much. Not to sound too bitter, but i’d rather see a whole new bout replace this one.
