to shut the hell up with all of that crap.
It’s annoying, I hate hearing it.

And Ariel being a self-proclaimed “pro wrestling fan” should be all over that in an interview.

he thinks pro-wrestling should be left to the pro-wrestlers.
Barnett is trying to fall on the wrong line of sport vs spectacle.

Theres definitley room for both in this sport.
Everyone’s desperate to prove that this is a legitimate sport. Great, I’m all for the increased popularity of MMA, but there are thousands of fighters. To expect everyone to behave the same way goes against the draw of sports in general. Every major sport has characters, characters that polarize the audience. Barnett is doing this. He is saying things that are somewhat shocking, and are entertaining. Everyone loves violence, no matter how you spin it. He does interviews as if he is on a battlefield ready to die. That is entertainment, whether someone likes it or not. As a fight fan, who gets excited to watch people fight, Barnett’s statements are great to watch/listen to.

I think there is room for both too
But this whole ‘seperate flesh from bone’ stuff just comes off as…douchey. It’s too over the top for my liking.
Plus, he is dishing this stuff out in an Ariel Helwani interview…I bet modern day casual fans barely know who Josh Barnett is, let alone who Ariel Helwani is…let alone do they actually watch his interviews.
If he wants to say that stuff in the pre-fight promo videos and throw it out there in the post-fight interviews, fine, do that, be cheesy there.
But in a post-fight interview that not even all of the hardcore fans watch? Give it a break there at least.

This is even more reason for him to "ham it up"
Casual fans don’t know who Barnett is, or Ariel. That’s fine. The more he gives, the more people will pay attention. And lets be honest, there’s so many fighters that just winning may not even draw attention. Josh has failed drug tests, and has been “crucified” by many MMA fans. Should he be “yes sir, he’s a good opponent, I will do my best, you never know whats going to happen, I train hard, I’ll let my fighting do the talking”? Fighters do what they do, and Josh has added savage war like “schtick” to his wins on a huge stage. I like what he’s doing and I’m sure he will continue with it.
