It was expected to be a battle of wrestlers at UFC 136 with Nick Catone taking on Aaron Simpson, but things have changed. Catone had to bow out with an injury and has been replaced by the returning Eric Schafer. MMA Junkie has it:
Middleweight Aaron Simpson (10-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) recently announced Schafer as his new opponent.
Featuring a pair of title fights in the evening's headlining contests, UFC 136 takes place Oct. 8 at Houston's Toyota Center.
The evening's main card airs on pay-per-view. Simpson vs. Schafer takes place on the evening's preliminary card.
UFC officials have not formally announced the change.
Schafer has had two runs with the UFC before this at light heavyweight, going 3-4 overall. He was out of action for 18 months after his last release, but returned last weekend as a 185 pounder and picked up a submission win at an XFO event in Illinous. Simpson has won two in a row to bring his UFC record up to 5-2. His last win was via decision over Brad Tavares at UFC 132 in July.
