I remember after the Rogers fight
M-1 starting jigging with contract complaints and stuff.
Fedor even did an interview and said after his contract with Strikeforce was up, he would look at offers from the UFC and everyone.
There were these talks and mumblings that M-1 realized that the deal Fedor was being offered by the UFC would have yielded more money than what they were getting from co-promoting with Strikeforce. There was also the rumor that for a time they were trying to get out of their Strikeforce deal to go to the UFC.
I’m not surprised. Now he is 3 losses down, finished each time, with each loss arguably being worse then the last one. He is only getting older…and with all due respect, he’s not really worth any crazy amount by any means.
He used to be the greatest, hands down…in terms of all time, he is hands down the best heavyweight so far. But he isn’t that any more. All of the greats fade, that’s just the truth.
Imagine if Liddell, before losing to Rampage, had left the UFC through whatever way, and started fighting random free agents, some light heavyweights, some middleweights perhaps….but kept dominating and never losing.
By having never lost his UFC title and still being on the big streak that defined him as the best LHW on the planet…he would still be perceived as just as great by ‘never losing’ even though his competition would have waned.
After the Cro Cop fight and before he came to Affliction…Fedor took more then a few fights that just weren’t against great guys. Matt Lindland, Hong Man Choi, and even Sylvia and Hunt, not horrible but coming off of losses and in the midst of career downturns. He never lost, so he could never really lose his #1 status…and at the same time, the UFC didn’t have a dominant Heavyweight champion to hope to supplant him.

Johny Hendrix?
Let the fighters fight, let the referees ref, but dear God, don't let the judges judge.
