hopefully no one wears anything like that again

Forget making people nervous. At one point his balls actually came out you could see them clearly.

I’m glad I wasn’t paying that close of attention.

Do you hate it when they link to articles from every other MMA site on the web? This is a blog. Linking to articles is what we do.

Or you could just, you know, publish the article on BE.

Yeah I read that at the time

I think that the most salient thing said during the post was that MMANation is an attempt to please advertisers. This is like the Gawker change over only less sudden. If MMANation is really an independent news source then let it stand alone. Can you explain to me how the article linked fits a “professional journalistic site.” The constant linking to articles on that site makes clear that there is really no distinction between it and BE.

by MrPants on Aug 7, 2011 12:57 AM EDT up reply actions

Are you out of mind?

What does it fucking matters what you read and from where as long as it is good? Why won’t you go to the mmanation website? The sites and writers are interconnected.

I hope you change your mind. We are working hard to create some good content and I’m as happy with my “52 Things I Love About MMA” and “Minus 100” series as I’ve been with anything I’ve ever written online.

I know it takes time I am just waiting for it to catch on and get the comment section going. I work a boring security job where I kill time reading articles and comments so I need strong comment sections to kill time.

As am I John

Great series.

It takes great work and thinking to keep from doing work.

Actually I think the content is great

In fact I would say the average article over there is better than the average one here (something to do with the experience writers migrating there) but the formatting kills me. Maybe I will get used to it, but its a struggle.

by Stiff Jab on Aug 7, 2011 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree

I don’t don’t get the point of taking BE writers to make a separate blog that is so distinct that every article written over there needs to be linked to on BE.

by MrPants on Aug 7, 2011 12:38 AM EDT up reply actions   2 recs

If it isn't any different

Then just include it on BE itself or double post the article on both so that the audience can use their preferred forum. Splitting content into two blogs and then posting links to everything MMANation does on BE is silly and makes reading the article less convenient. The message it sends is that the BE staff care little about the user experience if it means they can pull out more ad dollars.

by MrPants on Aug 7, 2011 4:03 PM EDT up reply actions

MMANation

is not a blog site per say more of a news website. Though the blog engine looks the same (which is in my eyes the best both in its graphics and functionality) MMANation is a part of a larger sports website just like Yahoo Sports that covers different areas. BE is more of a community based blogs, since they are under the same umbrella sharing stories is way to bring cross traffic to use both. Nothing wrong about that.

by Coeman on Aug 7, 2011 4:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Go read the article

it is not something that you would see on a professional news site. If they want to split of the news section to be more like yahoo and the op/ed stuff for BE great, but then let them be separate. What is the point of carving out some of BE’s articles and putting them on another site just to fanpost every article back onto BE?

by MrPants on Aug 7, 2011 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Take a look

at the articles on Yahoo sports news or the ESPN news they are very opinionated with catchy headlines. Generating traffic to the new MMANation is a regular business practice. Nation is newly remodeled and the company wants to get more traffic to it, I can just assume that BE and the other websites under the umbrella like Gals and Mania will serve as a channels to the main SB Nation website.

I just hate that there are more comment about the article on here than mmanation

And I don’t like it

I made poorly formatted fan post on this fight...

In it, I attempted to posit that Hallman was trying to either upstage or distract Ebersole with his banana hammock, and, that it almost worked…

Big respect to Brian Ebersole for weathering the storm, and knocking the shinola out of Hallman for his audacity.

In the era of board and cargo shorts, it was like seeing a European at the beach. Not a pretty sight.

Huuur durrrrrr

I’ve never considered you were clever Snowden but that’s dumb even by your standards.

thanks for saving me any further clicks to MMAnation.

I see your Borat and raise you one Dickhouse

A Borat angle would actually have been funny though. Why didn’t you go for this rather than for your star spangled equivalent of “lol americans are fat” ?

Some miserable, cantankerous people around today! You get to read stuff posted by MMA’s best writer for FREE, yet complain you have to click on your mouse one more time than you’d like for the pleasure. Get over it!
